I just got finsished install my new Steeda CIA for the Duratec 2.0L engine. Everything seemed to go smooth until we took it for the test drive.

When I accerate fast it will just cut out all the sudden with the car still running but will not accelerate any more. I rev the car in park all the way and its fine.

So we took it out again and the same problem but now the check engine light is on. Im worried we have done something serous that might need the shop to fix.

Any ideas on what it could be. Called steeda tech support and they said its either a Mass Air Flow Censor or a vacume seal.

Yeah its pluged in and fasting forward like the direction show. Is it possible that since its a new senior I would have to reset something to tell it that thier is more air now?

unhook neg. side of battery for 30min. to allow ecu to relearn everything...

and make sure everything is sealed up tight... an air leak after the MAF will cause those problems too

mine did the same thing when i put just an aftermarket filter on. what it is doing is its getting way to much air. you can take it in and there will be this thing that they can reset so it will quit doing it. mine did the same thing your are describing.!!!! not a big problem. just dont keep on letting it cut out.

Got it working finally. Had the aluminum piece that gose from the new filter to the engine on backwards. Had to read over the directions twice to finally see it. Well we took in around the block and everything seems to be working now. We had to discount the battery for 15min to get the check engine light to go off.

Now that I finally have it on it sounds great. I dont really see the point in the housing that around it since it apears to restrict airflow from the buttom of the car. Not sure if its better to take it off or just leave it as is. I believe the part is a heat sheild that came with it.

i had a similar problem with the steeda TB... i fixed it by turning the throttle position sensor around... lol

That box helps suck in cold air... since it sits in the engine bay... its not a cold air intake, so they put a box around the filter to help with sucking up all the hot air in your engine bay... leave it on... it helps

I had the steeda short arm as well. I think it sucked in too much warm air so I sold it and went with the long arm from F2 and it also depends on where you live for true cold air I'm here in South Florida so cold air is in demand.....and yes I had the same problem with the shut off thing and engine light but make it tighter and unhook battery cable.....sounds great does it not.....

Hear in Maryland it dose not get really hot in the summer. Once in awhile 100 but not that often. I get it all working and I decided to just leave the box on. It also dose not look that bad their either. It also seems to pull air on the conor from the front grill. I have notice a bit of power increase mostly in secound gear it seems. It sounds great but I also think for $230 it was not the best buy in the world. But I have happy with it. Now got to install my new springs.
