They should have their arms and legs cut off so that they can never do that ever again on a public road....

http://www.wral.com/news/strange/story/1539318/EVERETT, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol says a trooper arrested two men speeding 141 mph on I-5 in Snohomish County. The patrol says the trooper thought he was hearing an airplane early Sunday as the cars whizzed by going north, a 2005 BMW 330i with a 2007 Honda Accord right behind.
The trooper caught up with the cars because they had stopped for a passenger from one of the cars to get into the other.
The 22-year-old driver of the BMW, and the 18-year-old driver of the Honda were booked into the Snohomish County Jail for charges of reckless driving.
Thats not the American way.panchocito said:I've driven 140 plenty of times... on the autobahn.
Instead of crushing car, how about some driver ed, and common sense freeway legislation, where we can all drive a little faster, like our cars are meant to, but in a safe setting.
And we allowed it to get that way by handing everyone and there brother a license. If we made it harder more people would move to where public transit isFocusOnPunk said:Not me. There should be a happy medium between that and the "take a number and get a license" procedure here in the US. But like it or not (and I don't), having a car is pretty much a necessity in over 90% of America. I know when I was 16 (or 18...or 21...) I didn't have $2,000 laying around, and neither did my parents.
why the hell not? a V6 accord has what 260hp? are they limited? my dam 130hp focus will do 110mph and that is only because it is governed. If it was not it would hit 120mphfubar said:the only thing I'm wondering is how the accord was doing 141mph. I know this is dumb but they can't go that fast.
And yes I am getting quite tired of the “American way” of basically punishing people that are capable of doing things on a level that is above average, and Americans wonder why we are LOSEING so many jobs and people are not moving here like the used to.Ducman69 said:Thats not the American way.
Our roads need to be like our public school systems, with a "lowest common denominator" leave no retard behind system. If one out of a hundred can't handle the pace, he/she doesn't require additional tutoring, the "class" is going too fast.
For a start, I'd just like to see us actually using our turn signals and ONLY passing on the left which would require everyone moving to the next available right lane if its free... but not only don't we have that, I almost had some jerkwad hit me about a year back for entering the highway and then driving at about a 45o angle to go from the far right lane to the far left lane... at about 62mph... no blinkers and no looking.People just want to get into the furthest left lane, put the cruise control on, and take a virtual nap, the rest of the world be damned. Yet we demonise an extra 10mph rather than the bad drivers.
Yeah they are limited. I got my mom's 4 cyl accord up to 110 and shortly after it started acting up. I think it's limited to 125 or around there but I may be wrong. And the accord v6 makes 240hp.rpvitiello said:And we allowed it to get that way by handing everyone and there brother a license. If we made it harder more people would move to where public transit is
Also if you cant drive safely TOO BAD. You being inconvenienced and forced to take busses is not worth the overall cost on society to let you drive. Also what about the micro cars they have in the EU that young people can drive without a full license. Maybe those would get popular here if we allowed them for people not yet ready for a full license.

As for people getting on the highway and going straight to the center lane (luckily the idiots that get straight on a highway and cut across lanes stop one lane over from the left ) I am quite tired of them. I have been getting more and more horn happy since I am on a bike, and I basically drive with my thumb on the horn. If I even think a car is going to cut over I hit the horn and start to make a lane change to the far left. Most people seam to get the idea though and stop moveing over.
I don't put up with that bull**** from bikers. If he's going to drive like an ass and make a bad decision so be it. I woulda just passed the car normally, he can wait his turn.brads03zx3 said:141 is pretty fast. I've been passed by cars doing 120+ several times. Just last week a bike passed me with a rider on the back. Let's just say this. I pulled into the fast lane to pass slower traffic and the bike was a dot in my mirror. By the time I was even with the slower car, he caught up to me. I didn't have nearly enough time to pass, but instead of throwing the bike across 3 lanes (which he started to do), I just merged over the yellow line and he split the lane between my car and the slower car. He was moving.
You're funny. Haven't you seen the Fast and the Furious?fubar said:the only thing I'm wondering is how the accord was doing 141mph. I know this is dumb but they can't go that fast.
Well, look at it this way. Focus>All Hondas. All Hondas=Crap. If Focus>Honda then it's obvious Focus>Accord. Fubar's Focus<141. If Accord<Focus, then Accord<141. It's all about perceptual logic. :lol:mievil said:You're funny. Haven't you seen the Fast and the Furious?
Seriously though, you're joking, right?

Why would you take a Sonata to the track? :screwy:David Anderson said:Im sure the accord can run mid 140s. I rented a hyunai sonata, it quit pulling at 135ish
jinstall said:Still a firm believer in the $2000 drivers license.
I don't know whether he took it to the track or not...he just mentioned that he was going 135 miles per hour...which is generally something people on FJ only talk about publicly if it's on a track. Nevermind though...:dunno: (Personally, I think it would be a blast to take a rental ****box to a track and race it...which pretty much means I'm halfway there. I just need to rent my car to myself)mievil said:So you can break it and push it off the track to the closest street and call roadside service. Isn't the Sonata the one in the new commercial that is saying it's more badderass than the BMW?
Besides, my Focus > fubar's Focus < Accord. So where does that put us Sir Chalz?
I bet a radio is faster than 141mph. Completely aside from that, the dumbasses should have never started.Lifeguardjoe said:Meh, the dumbasses shoudn't have stopped. Article said it was early Sunday morning. I don't know too many people on the roads then.
Just have to be smart about it, I know I've topped out my Cobra 4 times (160mph governed), all with an emptyish road.
