The eBay black corners came in tonight. I took some shots to show what they look like a little better than the pics they always use in the ad. It was definitely the light in those pics that made me thing it was so faceted, btw -- the surface is actually completely smooth.

I'm going to throw them on tomorrow afternoon, I'll let you know how they look.

Just finished putting them on. Please ignore the bug graveyard AKA my front bumper right now.

I guess I'm pretty happy, I wish they were blacker all the way to the edge but who knows I might just paint it myself. Haven't decided on them yet.

they might look better with some silverstar bulbs. silver normally but with the bulb lite its orange.

still i think night shaded stockers are better looking..

Spent the last hour or two thinking about these & looking at them. I think I've decided to try painting my stock oranges, this just isn't doing it for me. Where's the cheapest place to get some niteshade?

any VHT dealer online, but i would get ahold of Massive Speed System here on FJ

they are a sponsor and i think they have it in stock

If you want to send them to me, I'll throw them away in my garbage...;)

Dont do the niteshade, it's got a flat finish and you have to clear coat it to make it shiney. Find a hobby shop around Portland, and look for spray tint for model cars. Buy a can of that and throw a couple coats on your clear/black corners. Dont put it on the orange ones because the orange still shows through and it looks like crap.

Those are the results i had. Matches the stock paint perfectly and is a nice glossy finish. And i like that the bumper has a cone mark on it still :) The scobby has a ton of those now too...i hate cone splooge.

Have stock lenses etc. on my sedan, but I think Andy Smith makes a good point: why toss 'em and leave 'em if you can pull up quick to retrieve 'em...by painting the black corners with nite shade or the hobby shop paint? I asked about using the hobby shop paint but was nixed a few months back by some who felt the paint may not be fully compatible with the plastic of the lens.

But, why not nite shade the black lenses, well, blacker, without the orange beneath? Seems like a good idea to me.

I'll give that a shot. The nightshade was cheap, so I ordered some of that since I have clear coat and black model paint already anyway. If one doesn't work out well I can try the other. I'll let you know how it goes.

Yeah, stay away from model paint!!

That stuff sucks!

That was my other idea, niteshading the clear lense now. Might be kind of different.

Got that Niteshade today. I decided that I wanted to paint these things from the back, since I liked the front but all the clear plastic around the edge made it look stupid (it was letting light through and looked like a white border -- see insert).

Taped off the front and went through three coats of Niteshade before I decided it wasn't going to be dark enough -- wasn't really using it for what it was made for, anyway. I grabbed some gloss black model paint and did the outer edge from the back of the light, came out good. Put them back on... I think it helped, I'm going to keep these on -- they're kind of unique and they actually match the headlights and fogs pretty well.

Wow...I really like how that turned out. I have some Nightshades coming already to do my tails and 3rd brake light. I was just going to paint the stock turn signals too but this gets me thinking

Love how they turned out!! They look great! Glad you decided to keep them. Helps to stand out form the crowd.

Check out Cbrenn71 on FF. He uses a liquid tint and buffs them. I sent him my clear corners and for about $20-30 including shipping, I received some great looking tinted corners that still function well at night. Nate

So did you crack open the lenses or did you just paint the outside?

I wouldn't crack them open. I covered the front in painter's tape and made sure it was creased a little up at the edges to keep the paint out. Then flipped them over, taped over the lightbulb hole, and sprayed black paint around the clear plastic lip that extends over the solid black plastic in the back. Easier to make the edge look straight on the front this way, plus none of it is directly exposed so it won't chip off.
