Im buying a lightning MAF for my vortech SVTF since i pegged the stock one at 5k on the dyno i understand that they don't have a intergrated IAT. SO my question is do i need a IAT if so where do i get one and where do I mount it after the blower or before? im going to be running suck through with the lightning MAF just like i am now with the stock SVTF MAF. Any help would be great.

I bought my IAT kit from CFM...

Great price and has everything you need to do the IAT conversion. The sensor end is usually installed just before the throttle body (drill hole put rubber stopper in and then sensor) and the peg tails go on the ends of the MAF sensor plugs.

I was going to do a conversion like this using a Mustang meter but didn't need it since my stock MAF didn't peg for now.

Yeah, that way it will be able to pull or add timing accordingly based on the IATs. No need sacrificing power or putting yourself in danger of harming your motor for no reason.

MEANSVT,

i got my IAT from advance auto for around $24. I made my own pigtail harness (soldered leads to the IAT since it's just a veristat and there is no polarity) to the wiring to the car for the oem IAT.

If you get one, get one that's threaded (i bought both types, since i was doing something similar with the XR). The simpler solution is to get the CFM kit, obviously, as it has most everything you need, except the drill and tap.

then put the IAT anywhere after the intercooler. You could just drill into the intercooler bottom half (not into the cooler part itself but in the galley before the outlet) and tap it to 3/8 NPT which i'm pretty sure the sensor is (check first, obviously). That will req' a 9/16" bit.

Why not do it the right way, stock MAF sensor in a 3" housing with a MAFia??

Even Randy agrees its one of the best ways to do a SVT.

Ahhh..... I stand corrected.

Why not just use the MAFia with the current MAF setup??

woul'nt it be safer to run a external IAT after the blower to get true IAT's going into the engine? i just ordered the CFM iat relocation kit so it's to late now. my tuner says it will be safer having a true reading of IAT after the blower.

Yes, relocating the IAT wasn't the issue at all. You can do that with the stock MAF correct? The question was rather why are you going with a Lightning MAF instead of a stock MAF, a 3" MAF housing and a MAFia.
