I was wondering if anyone has used a Aviator pump yet. They're supposed to flow alot more than the focus pumps. I was going to buy a BAP but if can get a new fuel pump to handle the task, I'd rather do that than overwork my SVT pump.

It's from a Lincoln Aviator and its supposed to be a direct fit into our baskets and is rumored to pump up to 310lph. When I searched a couple guys here were using them but I was hoping there was a little more info on them

Sounds Intresting, I'd have to find a dealer who may just have one in stock and compare. Now are you saying the pump wil fit, or the complete basket assembly fits. If this is true what your saying, i just may have to upgrade on the 450+ quest.

He said the pump will fit into the basket--I'm assuming the motor on this one. And if you call steve at tousley ford he can probably find out all the information he needs to on that, he helped me compare SVT vs 00-02 vs 00-04 foci pumps and has access to lincoln parts as well. Alternatively, a search on carparts.com will probably show you.

that will not help the fact that the fuel will move to the back of the tank on hard pulls and u will go lean the pump being in the front is what sucks

Yet another reason why datalogging and remote tuning is better...you'd never see that movement on the dyno

The Aviator pump is popular with Mustang owners, Guys with GT's and Mach 1's run them as an upgrade to their stock systems.

The next step for them is a Terminator Cobra twin pump and tank setup.

The Cobra setup requires both tank and pump due to the fuel movment issue mentioned here previously, the Cobra tank has a sump in the bottom of the tank that keeps fuel around the pickups.

The funny thing here is that Cobra owners put twin Focus pumps in as an upgrade, or they go to the Aviator pumps or top of the line are Ford GT pumps.

An Aviator pump will flow more than a Focus pump, how much? I honestly don't know but it's enough to feed a moderately modded Mustang V8.

Well I think I'm gonna go ahead and try it. It just makes sense to try and get a better fuel pump before trying to over work my current one and it's cheaper than a BAP. Hopefully it will handle 320ish whp

^^^^^^I don't see why it would handle that hp the aviator has 10-20 less then what your going for. its got the DOHC 4.6l in it. I just to work at a Lincoln Mercury Dealer and i have drove them alot and those tanks are fast for a SUV.

I dont know if you meant would or wouldnt, but it should handle the power no problem. 10-20 hp is nothing and they usually dont tune the vehicles that close to the end of their operating range (in terms of performance capabilities). I would definitely make sure its plug and play and find out whether or not it will require a retune.

Sorry i meant to say i don't see why it wouldn't lol.

From what I've read the Mustang guys that swap in Focus pumps can swap Aviator pumps with no mods so it should be fine. As for the retune, I'm gonna need a tune anyways because I'm upgrading to 60lb injectors and blow thru

I hope you don't think you honestly need a retune just to put this pump in. all of the ford pumps are basically the same, the only differences in the actual pumps themselves is the connectors sometimes and the volume that they push. If your tune is straight in your car you should be able to put this pump or any other pump in your car and have better duty cycles then you did with your previous pump.
