Bargain at $200? Holy cow, those things go for $130 or so wherever I look.

I'm looking into replacing my Motorcraft battery [again] in my SVTF but this time wanted a lighter weight battery instead of another Motorcraft battery.

Obviously I started with Optima but can't decide either red or yellow top. Found them on Amazon for $150 [Red top] & $169 [Yellow top]. Plus thought this billet plate might work in the SVTF- http://www.ebay.com/itm/75-35-Billet-Optima-Battery-Hold-Down-Tray-Bracket-Mopar-Ford-Chevy-Carshow-/391368086053?hash=item5b1f5b1225:g:nTAAAOSwa-dWkv-H&vxp=mtr

But seen an Odessey Battery PC1200 as another option for the SVTF. But trying to see if the optional bracket kit will work in the OE tray. Also wanting to read/hear others' experiences with batteries OTHER THAN the Motorcraft.....

Uh, Optima batteries are NOT sealed 100%, they have to vent like others do. They are simply gel electrolyte which does not migrate nearly so easy. I've seen a bad one venting like crazy due to an internal short.

They crank well but do not last as long as conventional batteries, I used to warranty them left and right. Common for them to go bad in collector cars left unstarted for a while then the rich guys flip out when battery dies way early. Why at our store we always told people who do that to yank a cable if it sits for long periods, the battery will thank you for it.

Give ME the choice and I'll take a Motorcraft first every time, by the numbers averaged out they lasted longer than Optima, but of course they do not have the rough service survivability the Optima do.
