This has been brought up before...but who has really added this on their car?
I know you need the buttons, the steering colomn ribbon, and the under hood actuator. Is this all thats needed? And how hard was it to install all this stuff?

If you have a manual transmission car with a duratec you need...

1) cruise control servo (and bolts to secure it)
2) cruise control throttle body cable
3) cruise control electrical wiring (engine compartment)
4) clutch pedal position switch (red, NOT blue)
5) cruise control deactivator switch (green, on the brake pedal assembly)
6) cruise control wiring for the steering column
7) clockspring with plug for cruise control
8) steering wheel with cruise control switches

and if you have a zetec, you also need...

9) cruise control servo mounting bracket
10) cruise control servo isolator pad/bumper

and if you have an automatic transmission you don't need...

4) clutch pedal position switch

Overall its not really hard at all to install everything, make sure you disconnect the car battery first before you start messing with the steering wheel and removing the airbag.

Also if you make your own wiring harness for the engine compartment, do it right and solder everything together the first time, I have to rip my wiring out as the crimp on connectors keep shorting the circuit on me.

wow, thats alot of stuff, I'll have to hit up the salvage yard with that last...

Its on a Zetec with a 5spd...

if you find a junked vehicle, try to get the entire engine harness, it'll be a bitch to replace in the car, but well worth it to not have to worry about home-made wiring shorting out.

Also, the clutch pedal switch is in the cluster of three switches on the brake pedal bracket assembly, make sure you grab the red and the green switches from it, and the wiring connectors should be color matched for easy installation.

I installed the Ford OEM cruise control kit on my wagon. It came with everything required, including a new, leather wrapped steering wheel. For my car (5-speed Zetec, charcoal interior), the Ford part number was YS4Z-9A818-BAB. At 400 CDN it wasn't cheap, but everything is new and all required parts are there, including a pretty good set of instructions.

The install took the best part of day. The most nerve wracking part was drilling the hole in the firewall to fish the wires through.

While I was at it, I also installed the tilt-telescope steering column. If you don't have it already, I would suggest getting one at the same time as all the other parts.

I forgot to mention, the Ford kit for some reason does not connect to the cruise light on the dash. I have no idea why it doesn't do this, since it was not that difficult to hook up once I figured out which wire to run by comparing the schematics in the kit to the "factory" schematics.

Hmmm, I've already got a leather wrapped wheel with cruise buttons, I'll have to ask Steve tommorow if he's ever heard of the kit without a wheel to make it cheaper, I'd almost be up for that. Especially on that car...
