I was told I don't need any heat sheilding with the F2 header despite that fact there is insulation fairly close to it. I noticed on the Focusport project car that they used some panel like shielding on the firewall. Seem like cheap insurance against a car-b-q (and looks nice too) so where to get this stuff?

No, the heat shields attach to the stock header, which is gone. So all that is left is the bare insulation on the firewall.
