Ok so here it goes. I bought this tuck off my cousin for $1000 back when I was still in high school. I didn't have time more money at the time to put into the truck, and almost started to sell it to someone who could put some time into it and bring this old thing back to life.
Well a few weeks back I was a party when one of my buddies brought up that fact he was looking for a new project truck. He asked if I still had this old tuck and if I wanted to part ways with it. I told him I would like to find time to get the truck over my house and actualy start working on it we set up a date to go look at it and hatch a plan on where to start with it. We ended up the next day going over to my grandmothers house where the truck had been sitting for the past few years with no love or attention. We looked it over found a starting place and the past couple weeks we go it over to my garage and started to tear it do to start working on it.

Oh man, these old trucks are on my all-time favorite vehicles list. Can't wait to see what you do to it. I know it's cheap/easy/reliable/efficient to put a GM powertrain in there, but please don't :p Needs a blown 5.4 imo :)

Seriously though, keep us updated. She'll be a beauty

Some day I will have an old truck like this and it will become a resto-mod truck.

Good luck with the project!

Yeah......no GM running gear please! A Ford racing 521cu.in. big block(or 392cu.in. windsor) crate motor will work just fine with a top-loader 4speed/tremec and a 9inch with some appropriate gears.

Or maybe a Y-block with a Paxton supercharger........ Or a flat-head!

So much Ford goodness, how could anyone even skimp to put a GM motor in? (to each his own though......:) )

How about about a 350hp turbo'd Zetec or Duratec to enhance mpg????:screwy: I know I am talkin' crazy, but I would love to see it when it's done! Good luck!

    The other night when we were talking on the phone, I had no clue what truck you were talking about... I figured someone switched out your Hookah pipe! That truck is awesome... let me know if you need help with anything, I'll drive down to F-ville to check that out. I honestly never remember you telling me about the old F-1 truck you had... the body panels seem intact, no rust through, which is great! That will be a good project for a while!

^unless you happen to be a ford guy and then use a 351
Well to be honest, there looks like there is more room then what is actually there. The biggest Im going to do is a 302. I'm wanting to do a full air ride suspension with a 4 link. The paint we are looking at is a satin black with chrome accents. Wheels, I'm looking at doing some black or chrome wheels with big white wall tires. The suspension is going to be the hard part I don't own a welder at this time nor do I have a lot of experience with a welder but I think I can make it by. What will probably end up happening is a full independent front and rear suspension. I'm not going to have time today to work on the truck today(family BBQ) so hopefully the rest of the week i can get a few hours in on it and then this weekend just spend a whole day getting it torn down to nothing.

Thats great to hear your keeping a ford motor in there, its the best way to do it and is the only true right way. Chevy makes awesome small blocks and that is where they should stay, in a chevy, unless of course your stuffing it in a riceburner. I cant stand to see a chevy motor in a ford, but to each their own. Keep us updated.

AWESOME, I had a '54 F100 that I bought in high school but never worked on it. Sold it about 8 years ago. Seeing this thread really makes me kick myself. Mine also had the inline 6. Very cool.

UPDATE!
So tonight the cab is coming off if its the last thing I do to this truck, there is two bolts holding it onto the frame that car causing the problems. We also go some sanding done on the hood so we know what the paint under it looks like.
This weekend we plan on spending most of saturday with wire wheels cleaning up the frame. I have an engine lined out the only problem is i have some other financial stuff to take care of( iPhone 3G).

This is how the driver side without the rain guard looks, this is how i got the truck from my cuz.

this truck is going to be come a prostreet style truck when everything is done, thats why its getting a bigger engine. the original plan was to do air bags in all four conners but i dont have the money or the experience to do it so im just going to but some lowering shocks on it so that it will still have the street feel to it.
