How are they on the reliable scale? Do they have any known problems and can they go 200k miles or more? Or are they more of a fun car that would not make a good daily driver?

Thanks
Jason

the one I found is a 2002 with 96k miles on it. It will have to last about another 100k. Think it would do it?

What year is it?

We have a regular Mini Cooper (02, one of the first off the boat) and while some on here disagree with me, the interior of the car has worn like crap, and alot of things have needed to be replaced. Most recently, a window motor, which coincidentally costs over $300 from BMW.

As for buying one with 100k? I wouldn't necessarily buy and car with 100k expecting it to go for another 100k.

But hey, DO buy it if it costs like 5grand, but I wouldn't spend a whole lot more.

I have an 05 cooper, the only problem that I've had was that it overheated last fall but everything was replaced under warranty without question. I bought it used for cash from a local BMW dealer. It's used as the office car and has had about 30,000KM put on it in the past year.

Great 4 season car and always gets in the 40mpg range.

it's an 02 with 96k on the odometer. I test drove it and it drove okay. The clutch seemed a bit heavy, but maybe they are on the mini. I'm not sure.

The Jet is the worst place to ask this question because people are highly uninformed and bias. Ask the same question over at www.NorthAmericanMotoring.com and you'll get a real answer.

I'm guessing most will tell you to be very careful with 2002-2003, but 2004+ are usually pretty good and reliable.

How much are they asking?

13k flat

Of all the people I know that bought Minis since thier release, only a few have gotten rid of them, and one of those was for a new model. I've never heard anyone complain once about the car other than some of the interior parts not holding up well, but that can vary car to car. My old Focus' interior at 90K looked better than my current car's at 50K

The interior of my '04 MCS is ok (after having both window motors, the drivers seat adjuster, and the rattling dash fixed). Then, two days ago, I heard a "popping" noise and see a random hose hit the passanger floor.

Its the rest of the car that needs lots of TLC.

My friend's 05 MCS is in good shape, but at 69k miles, it defintely has developed plenty of interior rattles.

Nothing falling off... I'd still like to have it.

Good care and feeding can keep anything running a long time.

i know of someone with a mini S and its a total POS, it seems every time i talk to him his car is in the shop for something else, i'd stay far far away from that car

13k? puhleeeze are u serious? you can buy a new car for a tad bit more!

And now you know why I told the OP to stay away from this thread and go to a true source.... :what:

If you are going to buy a supercharged mini, especially with that many miles, change the oil in the rear blower gear drive. It never gets done and it leads to the teeth of the gears sheering off and no longer turning the water pump. I've never found gears for sale, always had to buy the blower. 1200 I think for a reman.

oh yeah, they changed the gear ratios in the transmission somewhere about 04 I think. You want the ones with the OLD gears. ;)

It was 2005 where they changed the gear ratio's and you actually want 05+, much quicker and better off the line.

^ what source is more true then a good friend of mine whose mini is constantly in the shop!?!?!?!?!?!

seems like the Bias here is coming from the mini fanboy in this case
Your the one talking out of your ass and speaking hearsay. Plus just because your friend got a bad one it doesn't mean they all suck, otherwise we would all be telling people to never go near a Ford Focus.

You can throw the fanboy crap all you want, but your the one drinking the haterade..

Being part the MINI community and not being a fanboy I'll tell you what to get and what to stay away from (hence where I said to usually stay away 02-03's). So you go talking your **** and usual stupidity and leave the adults to speak intelligently.
