I had to laugh cuz a few weeks ago on Jalopnik there was an article saying that someone intercepted a communication to dealers that had details on a new 265hp WRX. Cuz i work for a Subaru dealer and we hadn't at the time recieved anything.

Then Friday at a local music festival I was working with Subaru marketing guys and they confirmed that as of that day (Friday) the car was announced, and then on Sunday I saw commercials for it during the X Games rally.

The funny thing is, Subaru didn't give the dealers any info until today, and even then all we got were the new model codes for all the Imprezas, but no pricing or anything or even anything saying the WRX had 265hp.

But yes, it will have 265hp, a better suspension, and 5 speed only. The automatic transmission WRX will now be called the Impreza 2.5GT and retain the 226ish hp.

Interesting. Curious to see where the price goes tho cuz most of our WRX's are between $28k-30k after options. With the STI being about $36k.

yeah that's the thing. they just aren't selling. when they came out in 02 they were always like $25k or so. 6 years later, same horsepower, and they cost 3 grand more.

my manager was like "don't even concern yourself with that crap, it's not like you're going to sell one anytime soon anyways."

which is about right, all people want from us lately is the non-turbo 2.5L cars. no 6 cylinders or turbos. all i sell is Impreza, Outback, Legacy 2.5i SE, and the 09 Forester which we can't keep on the lot.

i am so glad though that I got a job with Subaru. we are doing better than last year same time, all the other car dealers around us are sucking big time. everyone likes to downgrade from their SUV's to us cuz we have the most fuel efficient AWD fleet out of anyone. but i digress

last week we were selling everything on the lot at invoice for a few days. with that said, our 2 STI's are still sitting there. i've only worked there 6 weeks but they're the same two that were there when I got there. i'm not sure what we'd actually let them go for on a normal day but i don't think they command the same premium as they used to when the STI first came out. especially with the gas crisis, and the recession the country is falling into.

thats 265 at the crank, at the wheels i doubt that'll be more then 210 :/

still a nice boost in power though
Whatever.......ALL vehicle manufacturers give BHP. It's what the engine produces. Period.

Yeah, 265 BHP and I'll bet it still sounds like it's misfiring.......

Overpriced, and I never care for the looks too much. Now I will say that the few rides on the Auto-X circuit in a 200+ pony-powered WRX did make me smile ear-to-ear.

Well I think its a good step forward. As I watch manufactures position themselves I am somewhat confused by Subaru, we have a franchise where I work. I mean look at the support for X games, bike competitions all over the place.

They do position themselves as performance, and god knows there are some superfast modded Subaru's, but since 07 I have seen multiple local (Socal) warranty claims refused because of guys running open track days. It appears the fuel mapping on 07 and 08 are causing some motors to die

but thats WITH TAX.....
ohhhhh.. damn. depending on how desperate the dealer is to unload it, who knows, they might cut into their holdback money. not the case around here tho.

that's a pretty sweet freakin deal if it is true
