I've run into a bit of trouble installing the roush seats on my 05. I'm on the rear seat back with the seat belt through the middle, and I have to remove the plastic cover with the 2 rivets in it to remove the existing seat cover. What is the best way to do this?

I haven't taken that part off the seat before, but I have taken my seats out. I would think it would almost be easier to do, but you'll need a massive sized torx bit (can't remember but it was the largest one in my little collection) I picked up the set from Home Depot for like 15 bucks. Husky was the brand.

Sorry, that didn't really answer your question, but maybe taking it off will yield some answers.

well, i just went ahead and tried it. and it turns out we just needed to drill out the rivets, and we'll re-rivet after we get the new covers on

I'm liking them. The install is going pretty well. but that back seat is kinda tricky (the one with the seatbelt in it). but i always thought this kit was going to be leather, but it turns out it is vinyl.

Yeah i remember hearing something about that. I thought it said leather on the Roush website but who knows. Did you get them from massive?

Still nice though. I can't stand my seats. I painted them with that vinyl fabric dye and now they attract so much fur and crap that it's driving me insane.

well...I finally got the back seat covers installed. It looks pretty good, and I'm overall happy with the result. There were a couple spots i'm not perfectly happy with. I messed up when I started installing the cover for the back for the rear seat where the seat belt goes through the seat.

I tightened down that cover and then I started pulling the vinyl to attach the hog rings. This caused a little bit of non-smoothness above the cover on top of the seat. Its ok though...i may look at someway to smooth this out somehow

I've heard once you paint your seats with that stuff your seats are pretty much ruined.
Well sure, i suppose.....if you're wanting to put them back to stock. But yeah, once you apply it there's no going back. They certainly look cool and match the rest of the dark/black interior but they're stiff and you have to touch them up periodically. I say if you want black seats go with actual black seats LOL

I'll get them up soon...I don't have the front seats done yet.

Here...the front seats were finally finished....they were much more difficult than the back seats but I was able to finish them both in about 3 hours with the help of my dad. The driver's seat (the second one we did) went much quicker.

I'm impressed....you both did a great job, particularly if that was your first auto seat cover job. FWIW....leather covers are much harder to work with.
Thank you very much! It was the first seat kit i've ever installed. Didn't know what we were getting into, but it turned out pretty nice. The interior has a much different feel to it now. Makes me want to drive faster...lol
