So I'm currently running 13 pounds on stock block. 13 pounds is where the turbo ran out of steam, that is why I don't just up the boost.

I'm considering adding nitrous on top of the turbo. Not a large shot...maybe 50 or 75. Can anyone offer advice? Advantages, disadvantages, etc?

Before anyone feels the need to go into it (though I'm sure someone will), I know tuning is important. Also, I know about wet v. dry. My kit is a wet kit. I have a tuner.

Now, any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming you are running a zetec block--13psi is pushing it on the stock block, especially if you are running a turbo that reaches max efficiency at or below that. You don't want to be putting too much pressure at too high of a temperature through a stock shortblock.

That being said, I think it'd really be pushing it to expect it to hold up to that AND an extra 50-75 shot of nitrous. Consider it will significantly cool the intake charge of the boosted air so you might see a larger gain than the 50 or 75 hp.

If you have a spare engine "just in case" I'd like to see the results. ;)

i would try a 35 shot. i ran a 35 shot on top of 20 psi and it added around 54hp and 61tq  with boost its always higher hp than the pills u have in. So if u put a 50 in it would be close to 75-80hp ;). Try a 35 and go from there i would watch the fuel pressure very close this is where i had problems. As for the stock block hocky ran a 75 shot on top of 10psi on his zx3 :dunno:

Thanks for the info.

I'm running an SPI stock block.

Frankly guys, this whole CAR is extra. :D Not that I'm TRYING to blow the engine, but I'm willing to take some risks.

So, should I decide to try this, a 35 shot should be sufficient. We'll see how exams go, then I'll figure out for sure what I want to do.

If anyone has any other or any more opinions, please post them up.

Rustin, I call dibs on what's left of yer turbo setup when you blow the motor to bits. :garage:

Honestly I'm curious to see how the bottle would work out for you. With propper tuning, I think the ol' SPI should hold up.

And if you ever want a test mule, I'll gladly drive down from VA and let you put all your parts on my car. :D:lol:

Here's my rule: "add boost (or in your case spray) till she ping's then back off a little". Have'nt blown a motor yet. : P

What are you using for fuel? I have'nt knocked no matter what since I've starting running E85.
That is terrible advice.

id agree with starting on the 35 jet and see what it does form there after tuning then possibly the 50 but I wouldn't recommend anything over that.
I would also Recommend setting up your purge valve to purge across the intercooler so you can chill it prior to the run giving a very dense cold air charge for the turbo.

doing the purge this way you will pick up a few more hp esp on a hot day you will see big gains differences between the frosted IC and the IC left to normal air cooling.

I have 2 turbo car's, one with about 5 years with boost, and the other one has 2 years on it. Have'nt blown a motor yet, so I must be doing somthing right.

That 'something right' is probably not making any power. On a set up that is already ragged edge for the bottom end, if you push it until it knocks with the bottle, you will be picking up block, rods, and pistons from the roadway.

Hocky, Jeff knows what he is talking about cause he is doing all of this on a escort SPI with a stock bottom end.

forget the spray and get a bigger turbo, that will solve the problem.
