So, the idea is to have a Higher CoG so that the Fulcrum was more Pronounced...?
At what point did they start experimenting with "jacking up" one end of the car or the other to create a better "static" balance (Biased toward Rear Traction)...?
:dunno:
:)
It goes quite a ways back, Heres a vintage Ford and a couple "barn find" Gassers from back in the day.

1928/1929 Ford Model A, numbers-matching, all original, restored by hand inside & out by my girlfriend

Before pic (when her grandfather first purchased it 40-50 years ago...)

And after pic, post-restoration:

And yes, her grandpa is Santa reincarnated .

Not seeing how that one is a rod. Cool, yes. Rod, no.

I always liked the rods better with the fenders than with the fenders cut.

Found this, too:

This is a salt flats "belly tank lakester" so named because it used an aircraft belly tank for it's body. Very aerodynamic for that reason.

I'd say one of those is a pretty hairy ride (at speed, of course).

Has anyone here NOT seen "American Graffiti"?

Heres a bit of trivia for you,

Did you know the American Graffiti '55 Chev was the exact car used in Two Lane Blacktop?

The car was originally built for Two Lane Blacktop and later converted for American Graffiti, it was not a typical movie car either. It was a genuine 10 second big block gasser class car.

There is much win in this thread!

:hump:  :arr:

(There's also some rat rod, non-race-car-'glass and much red-wheels-and-whitewall gheyness, but, hey; what're ya gonna do.)

:D :p

Yea. My bad; [FJ] time is short this weekend... and all my fave pics of old tin are stranded on my old pc's hard drive until I can extract them.

For now, though, and until I can select a few pics from the internetz, I'll quote post some pics from this thread:
