I have a 05 zx4 atx with the 2.0 duratec and want more low end power. I have a cosworth cai & focusport tuner with a 92 oct. tune on the car now. I cant afford a turbocharger setup or a 347 swap.

Are there any cams that increase the lowend torque that would work or exhaust parts (catback). I am to make the car a little quicker off the line & better during daily driving up large hills. I'm guessing 10-20ft/lbs would be good.

header hurts low end torque though doesnt it? helps upper end more..

It depends on the size of the primary tube and length of the collector. Generally speaking the larger the primary tube the higher RPM which peak torque occurs. Also a longer collector can increase low end torque. So depending on header design headers can build low end torque or they can hurt it.

A header can be used as a great tuning device

but specifically the f2 header doesnt that hurt low end power? thats what ive heard.. it has more top end, but low end suffers..

From what ive read the F2 and the OBX have 1 3/4" primarys and the focussport and the cosworth have 1 7/8" headers. So the F2 probably would be a good choise for the 2.0L. Still I think 1 3/4" is a bit big for a 2.0L.

The F2 header should give gains across the rev band, there will just be larger gains as the RPM's climb.

The F2 header actually chops a small amount off the bottom of the rev band and moves it up top. The benefits far outweigh the drawbacks, but if you are in search of low end, the F2 header is not the way to go. A turbo or shorter final drive is the way to go. I'm pretty sure the MTX gears won't work though.

^ True that.

No one offers a torque-enhancing header primary dia; the only headers available for the Duratec are for making power at elevated revs.

If you're looking for over 10 lb ft, you won't find it in any bolt-on other than forced induction. A pair of the smallest grind cams MIGHT give you 10 lb ft, but that's at 3000 rpm and above... and I get the impression you're looking for more grunt off idle.

The 2.3 Duratec is what you're looking for if you want a torquey four banger. Consider selling your '05 ZX4 and getting into a ZX4 ST. The ST not only offers you the 2.3 but also the shorter 3.82 axle... win/win.

Anyone try the F2 cylinder head?? To me, this seems like the best way to go if you want to stay NA, plus you get to choose what stage cams to put in it. This plus intake and header would be about half the cost of the turbo kits out there and give you quite a bit more umph than stock. Looks like the best NA option for the 2.0!

clint the gt28r that comes witht he FS kit has amazing spool response already

i know it does, im just saying if the guy wants N/A like torque of idel, a smaller GT25 turbo will do the trick

Mos def what I'd do... if I towed a small trailer... which I plan to do...

:p

most all OEM turbo cars have turbo nealry undersized for the motor for the instant response and usable torque for the part of the power band people will use most on the street...low to mid range. so a 2.0 duratec with a big frame GT25 will have awesome response and low end
