The other day I got in my car to head home from work and I noticed there was a puddle of water on the floor on the passenger side. It had rained fairly hard that afternoon for about 10-15 minutes or so and then lightly rained till I got into my car. All the windows were closed and there was no sign of any leak spots, just the puddle on the floor. I felt around it and there were no wet lead into puddle spots in the carpet around it which leads me to believe it dripped in somehow. I dried it as best I could and turned the heat on full blast for the ride home. When I first turned the air on a little bit of water spit out from the vent.

When I got home it was pretty dry. I used a few more paper towels to get the remaining water and was satisfied that it was pretty dry. It poured again last night and I was worried. I went out with a bowl to put down in case it was leaking again and there was nothing so I let it be. This morning still nothing and it rained all night.

Any ideas? I am thinking this water got in by going through this vent. What do you think?

On my 02 I had a water leak on the passenger side floor. At first I thought it was the heater core and had the dealer take a look at it. What it turned out being was the trim at the base of the windshield above the cabin air filter. Ford replaced the trim piece and used some silicon to hold it in place. No more leaks and every thing was fine.

Thanks for the heads up. I plan to wait and see if it happens again. It has been through many storms since I have had it and there have never been any leaks.

If you park your car on an inclined driveway (nose end higher than ass end) it'll likely leak again when you get the next big rain. Water will find its way to the cabin filter area, then pool up until it falls into the air intake and then down into your passenger footwell.

I had the same issue and even after the dealer addressed the problem (cabin air filter area). Their fix did not work. Granted, this was back in '03, I think, and the techs might not have been as fluent with the fix as they are now.

I ended up getting a semi-permanent custom mod stuffed in that area and the issue has been resolved since. Only problem is, I cannot use a cabin filter. I'm thinking that having one would keep things much cleaner inside, keeping the dust, leaf bits, and pollen off my dash. Hmm, wonder why I didn't just stuff generic furnace filter material in there like I thought of just now. :bang:

It was parked that way.....maybe it will have to be backed into the spot I park in....

Yeah, mine never leaked until one day I had a swimming pool in the passenger foot well. Just started leaking out of the blue.

It is suppose to rain here this afternoon. I flipped my car around to see if that does the trick.

IT has rained a few times since this first happened and i have been parking my car so it is facing downhill. Things have been dry. This morning I noticed that the floor was wet again. It looks like it rained a little last night but I am not sure. The car was on a flat surface this time. Any ideas?
