mine have been deployed on the side for sure, but it got sown back up (cant tell it ever deployed) my light will flash, and then most of the time it will stay on,

i was going to make the little bubble it has say "svt" but i forgot when i had the cluster out.

i guessit wuld be nice to know so i can be prepared to die haha

i have the oem bumpers, and wing.
i was going to try and pull/roll my fenders and qp's to see ifi could match them up, cause if you pull it off it saves a bunch of money and if it doesnt work oh well they were going in the trash.

so i held off, and now i dont think there are anymore in the us.

Will it hurt if idrive without a front bumper for awhile?

some guy wants to buy my SVT bumper, and i could use that money and get all my rs parts painted and get my fender roller rented and start going crazy

Don't you think you've already put your passenger at risk without the added safety of side airbags, that Ford engineered to protect your passengers, which YOU decided to remove!! What if you get hit on the passenger side, Ops sorry dude, but damn you got nice seats!!! Did you not warn your guest to the fact that they aren't protected, by your choice to LOOK EUROPEAN and have the same safety standards as they(in Europe, bumpers have no CRASH protection).

The light flashes to WARN you of a defect its found, doesn't make sense to disable the whole system cause of a side airbag fault, so for your safety the front still deploy. You know what the code is SHORTED circuits(NO BAGS). You could get resistors to simulate bags, BUT YOU STILL PUT YOUR PASSENGERS IN DANGER. What did you do BEFORE air bags came along, walk? Even that's dangerous, gotta watch out for people who dodge animals.LOL

Airbags are not required in all parts of the world. Airbags are required to meet certain countries safety regulations in order to drive the car on the road legally. Guess what.....those RS bumpers you are putting on your car also don't meet regulations in the US, so that is no different than the airbags.

Ford didn't design the airbags for safety....the put the airbags in to meet federal regulations. I guarantee you that if they weren't required in some countries, Ford wouldn't bother putting them in.

If you get in a wreck in your RS clone with the shorter bumpers and less or no crash foam, are you going to tell every passenger that your car doesn't meet federal regulations? If you wreck your car, and your car doesn't meet federal regulations for crash protection due to improper bumpers, are you ready for the lawsuit from your passenger if they are hurt?

The court system won't care if the Euro bumpers would have added any extra protection or not in a bad wreck, all they will do is latch onto the fact that your car was modified to bypass federal crash regulations with bumpers that don't meet US standards.

Now, you want to preach more about safety? :rolleyes:

Note: also told how to get around the light being on, thought it would help get past his consern of the bags working, but hay I've been doing this for 32 years for a living, my advise means nothing.

Granted this car is not exactly "legal" by any stretch, but "safe", I'd like to go on thinking so. I just think a little ingenuity into correcting the function of the wheel and passenger front airbag is worth a little thought and attention, if for nothing else than to ease my mind. With a 5pt harness though, you'd never reach the airbags anyway.

In all honesty... I'm on pace to drive this car less than 100mi a year now. It's basically for show (the STi will be my "go"). Plus if anything ever happened to this car, I'd be more worried about the safety of whomever is in the other car that hit me... if you know what I mean ;)

note: Progress made on vent gauge pod! Looks like two will fit great after all, even under the outer vent ring, should look stock too!

I wouldn't do it personally, though I did drive for 20 miles from house to bodyshop that way when I was taking the car in the first time. Too much stuff exposed to the elements. Again, I wouldn't suggest doing this.

I have an idea that may work... but you may need to investigate how the stitching comes apart on seat covers that have airbags in them.

Swap the foam bolsters and seat covers onto your existing seats.
