nope, nothing special.

i know i need help with setting up my MTF, i gotta call Randy when i get some time (and hook up my wideband to be datalogged) so i can fix the MTF.

so if the PSTF is all cool, then the leaning out at the high end could be my injectors to small? (or the off MTF is more like it)

just fix it yourself silly

Start off by using the swtiching STFT in closed loop to fix the low counts. Just remember, stft is opposite of lambda, under 1 is evident of lean condition (not enough air in MTF). If it averages .95, you need to multiply the air at that MAF counts by 1.05 to make it 5% richer. Or if it averages 1.05, you need to multiply by .95 to make it 5% leaner. Its important you have adaptive turned off and you do all this at steady state maf counts (hold the throttle steady).

For higher counts (above 500 in my experience) make it go open loop and log your wideband in lambda (divide the analog equation by 14.64) and apply % changes to the MTF to get it to match what STFT says (which will be the value in the base table in open loop). Again make sure you turn off adaptive fuel. If the WB is reading .900 and your base table has .882, you need to multiply that maf counts air by 1.02 to add 2% of fuel.

You can make an excel sheet to show your overall % change from stock to check and see if any of your values dont make sense, or to apply a trend upward.

see thats what i did tho.. well pretty much..

i took the datalog and looked at my AD counts at RPM and knowing what the commanded lambda in the fuel table and knowing what the actual AFR was on the wide band and divided them into each other. (IE commanded was .859 (12.57) and knowing i was actually at 13.2 i would do 13.2/12.57 to get my correction.) i did that through the AD counts but didnt seem to work. i think it will be alot easier to have my STFT, AD counts and wideband data all on one graph, that way i could do everything really easy/fast.

i hope im understanding it right

i think most of this will be fixed when i get my DIN connector in so i can log my wideband

Just do everything in lambda it will make a lot more sense. Or at least it helped me a TON to do it all in lambda.

13.2/12.57 would give you a 1.05 multiplier... which is right. But I think lambda is easier to understand. Nice thing about lambda is your multipliers are SO easy to figure out.

13.2 is about .898, so if you are commanding .859 you know you need to make it 4% richer. So you add 4% to the MTF there by multiplying by 1.04.

Its not exact that way but it is close enough.

One way you can cheat for now is just run your fuel open loop TP table at like 50 or 80 counts, and your entire base table at .859. Then you will know for sure youre in open loop and you will know your commanded lambda for sure. Then try to log a constant maf counts while watching the wideband. Make it output in lambda if you can.

just to clarify, when the STFT says say 1.014 that means its actually LEAN and not RICH like everything is telling me...

in CLOSED LOOP stft plays opposite day. Over 1 in closed loop is evident of a rich condition, and you need to remove air from your MTF since the engine is getting less air than the ECU thinks it is. Under 1 in closed loop is evident of a lean condition, and you need to add air to your MTF since the engine is getting more air than the ECU thinks it is.

in OPEN LOOP the stft just reads the base table to you.

Read the "Ford Fuel Trims" entry in livelink help.

and after some more editing I think I have my posts straightened out now...

ok, think i got it, going to get my DIN connector and then work on fixing the MTF for good

gonna do alot of datalogging soon. and then play with spark, even tho i tried your "listen to your sensor" thing and it didnt work :p i might have to make a more permanant solution (tho not wanting too) to make that work.

i think that is enough stupid questions for today, ill save more stupid ones for later, when everyone wont think im totally lost

I think I have more confidence in you than you do right now ;)

Sorry to hear the KS thing didnt work, I have had a few people tell me its working great and saved them a lot of trouble. Maybe you dont have it shoved in the pinhole far enough? I had that problem at first.

that is exactly the problem Pete, the leg of the cap is really flexible and is difficult to get into the hole. and you know how Ford is with their harnesses, its not like i got alot of room down there

i think the other oops thing i did was when i was messing with the knock sensor thing, i unplugged the ECU for a little bit, so i think some of my data logs were the ecu learning again.... OOPSY lol.

i think ill try again with the knock sensor, im going to go over my connections again and make sure they are secure.

i did, maybe im wrong yet again

i might have changed that in my lastest update and not when i was messing with the knock sensor.

Pete, thank you for your help. i greatly appreciate it

same as it was

waiting on the connector to make my cable and then finish the MTF, then onto spark.

i know that after i loaded the 93 octane values with the new BKT, that my car has been hauling. so im sure there is quite a bit left in her. i have trust in her.

all it takes is time and patience.... i dont currently have the time to get mine finished up so it may be down until next spring.... i hope not though...

i havnt even got my exhaust leaks fixed...:p i really need to get motivated on it and just knock it out...

anyways... keep us updated on how things come along...

good luck

got my connector for my wideband, going to put it together and wire it up on monday and then do some logs and fix my damn MTF

forgot to mention... if my IATs are low, (its like mid to upper 30s at night ) will that throw off my MTF? i dont wanna have a bad MTF cuz its cold
