Dealer acknowledges the throttle body is sticking and will not cover it. They say the throttle body is around $200 and the total with tuning will be around $450. They state the throttle is electronic. Is this so? I have a stock 05 st and i see there is a throttle cable running to the TB. Is an after market throttle body worth it because if i have to replace it i want a better part. But if it does nothing or causes driveability issues i dont want it.

from what i remember, our throttle is not a drive by wire. they should cover it if it's under warranty. that is bs.

Dude, take it to a different dealer. If that fails I'll sell you one of mine for 50 bucks shipped

74,000 miles - it's out of warranty.

But $450 to swap a throttle body is absurd. Even more absurd is the notion that you need to "tune" it afterwards. You're swapping it for an identical part - no tuning required.

my 05 se isn't electronic. I think the newer ones went to that, but not in 05. And you can do it yourself really easily. You can even get the ported TB from Tousley Ford (it's only a little more expensive, 206+shipping) which will give you a slightly better response, from what i hear. But the tuning comes from if you have an electronic TB, which you don't, because the Elec. TBs have sensors that vary slightly and need to be tuned to get it to be accurate.
