Dato I feel you. There are a few "iconic" movies I have no interest in seeing.

Any James Bond flick. Although, I did watch Casino Royal (yummy Daniel Craig)
The Godfather
Rocky

I know I'm gonna hear it, so bring on the oh my god's and the whats!

Not really... for me it is one of those "yeah, whatever" sort of things.

I don't care if somebody doesn't want to or hasn't watched something I like/love.

I figure it is their loss.

I used to vocalize similar thoughts about Lord of the Rings, but then I realized I was just being annoying.

I like all sorts of movies and would like to give them all a chance if I had the time. I only avoid horror movies because of the really frightening imagery that my brain generates for so long afterward, but that's about it.

So I've got a question for my fellow NorCal techs

When I did my 100k maintenance, I did the following:
Water Pump/hoses (and later tstat)
New coolant
Timing Belt/tensioner/idler
New plugs and barely used FS wires
Accessory belt
fuel filter

I am still seeing pretty good mileage (>30 mpg mostly highway, ~26 mph mostly city), the engine still feels strong, is a fresh O2 sensor recommended to be replaced before failure? I don't have a CEL, but I've heard of a 100k replacement interval.

What other items should be replaced about this time? I still have the original DPFE sensor, etc. I purchased but did not replace the PCV valve.

Also, I'm considering going back to Ford Honey in the MTX. I've ran Motul since ~60k and haven't really had issues, but it is being a bit temperamental with a cold trans. I just don't have a way to get it in the trans LOL Maybe I can find a funnel with an extension tube. I also don't know if I have the correct size allen to get the drain plug off. I think it may be back in cali.

Powersteering fluid flush?

For the O2: Randy recommends a fresh FORD O2 sensor quite often based on his experience. Personally, I'm still running my original that has been swapped from a cat to an offroad pipe to a different cat to an SVT header. Still seems to work okay, though prudence would probably indicate it is time to replace it.

I wouldn't replace the DPFE unless you're having drivability or mileage issues. I'm still on my original... same with my PCV valve.

I've always had cold weather issues even WITH the Ford honey... they just don't like to shift into first very much. Can't hurt though. Extension-tube funnels are cheap at Kragen, as is a set of allens.

Power steering fluid flush? Can't hurt... I've never seen a failure associated with old fluid, except perhaps in the traditional SVT fashion.

Hm...sounds like I'll go with the 'if it aint broke don't fix it.' I'll probably change the oil, take off the wheels and look everything over real good. I do need to clean the air filter and MAF though, it has been a while. I'm back to original brake lines. They probably have ~95k or so as I had stainless lines on for a while, then they got swapped to the blue car.

Wow!

I have to tell you guys what happened at the dealership last night. Some customer stole his own car out of our service area because he didn't want to pay his bill. We lock up our driveways so he had to drive up a hill thru trees and bushes to get his car out.

Did he really think he wasn't going to get caught? We have cameras that showed him doing it and we still have his keys.

What a dumb ass!

I might go with SS lines on the Vic, eventually. Anything to help that beast stop better hehe. I cleaned the MAF sensor before our trip to soCal last weekend, and damn! what a huge increase in MPGs.

She's got 99k miles on her now, at 100k I'll give her a new fuel filter, Motorcraft plugs, fresh Mobil1, and window tint

Then it's shocks/springs/Addco sway bars after I save up some moniez. We'll prob. need a tech day for that though :p

So... ummm... perhaps I'm old, or out of the loop or something, but...

wth happened to the blue car? :dunno:

Brad - get yourself one of these pumps, you'll be much happier:

Many years of filling VW transaxles taught me these are priceless. It just makes filling up a tranny sooo much easier.

(Oooh, that sounded bad)

I'm pretty much done spending the exorbitant prices on the Ford Honey. I've had great luck with Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90. The old VW 5-speeds are just like the Getrag in my SVT, they all hate cold. Amsoil SG was the only one I could find to completely smooth out the morning shifts for my VW's. I've also been happy with the Lucas 75w90 I'm (was) running in my GTI.

For power steering fluid, if it looks like espresso, time to change. If the crap is really broken down, it will affect your steering feel. Flushing the crap out of my GTI and replacing it with the factory recommended Pentosin synth made a huge improvement in the steering feel. Of course the PO may have put the wrong crap in there.

I'm so glad I don't have to work on my car in 12 degree temps

Ok so the first story I told was incorrect.

I guess one of our detailers got locked in and instead of calling someone to unlock the gate he decided to drive his car up the hill. Well when it got stuck, he used a customers car to push it.

I love how the stories change.

I think that version is even better.
