Home much money does it cost you to track your car? Just ball park it... I would think that $ is a huge factor.

just so you know, im not made of money, i work hard at my day job, spend and save very carefully to make events, repairs, and buy ware items. Im 24 working for the city, im not bringing in huge sums of money per year. Of course putting a car on track cost money, racing costs money, but your question seems to insinuate that i have money coming outta my ears and thats why i can race my car...

Was not trying to insinuate that at all... just asking you the question and to keep it from being too personnal just a ballpark figure...

i attended 4 redline time attack weekend this past year, and 2 normal track days in my focus.

a set of tires per weekend=550
race gas for the weekend=150-200
fluid changes prior to weekend(brake, oil,)=75
food, lodging, beer ;), etc=100
event entry for the weekend=350-500

SO, per weekend i usually spend a minimum, if nothing brakes/has to be repaired, any where from 1000-1500 per time attack weekend.

i instructed at 4 track events past year in my miata, but that track time is free and the cost to drive the miata on track is low.

BUT this is somewhat moot in the sense that i personally run in a time attack series, the point i was trying to make is where are the people with F-P turbo focuses just hitting up track events for fun and learning? showing that a F-P turbo focus can get around a track reliably and quickly?

they probably arent tracking their focus.
as you said 1500 per event is exspensive.
not too mention theyd have to throw anothe coupld of grand into suspension and interior bits.

a 300whp focus is a 300whp focus.
the way it puts the power down may be different but in the end whatever products you use or who you used to tune makes no difference because at the end of the day you have a 300hp focus.

do i think a FP 300whp focus can go around a track right next to a FS 300whp focus.
YES, as long as its set up right or the same and driven by a good driver.

put the stig in a fp turbo car and let him run around a track
now swap the turbo parts and tuning and run the same car with the different companies boost parts and run it. i cant say id honestly see a big enough difference to get all happy about.

this is just saying. i am not directing this towards anyone as i have respect for everyone here and this isnt a personal statement.

^ but like i said, i run in a series. so the cost to run in that is MUCH more then just going to track events like what Paul haskew, and Jimmy do in there FSwerks turbo cars.

and the point im trying to make is not building two focuses the same with FSW and FP turbos, im talking about the FP turbo owners out there, zetec, duratec whatever tec motors they have, why are these turbo focus's seeing track duty

but people who run once a year arent going to have tje skill level and experience to run their fastest time.

im not trying to argue i was just saying.

i dont have a reason or answer as to why FP turbo cars arent running on road courses.

but like i said i believe a FP car can run jsut as quick as a FS car if the suspension setup is the same and the driver is the same or the drivers are equally as good.

There aren't... b/c there aren't that many people who choose to do that with their turbo focus who have had their car built and tuned by Tom for whatever reason, be it Tom or just the actual tracking of a the car and being afraid it would break b/c crap happens.

How many Focus drivers have a DD that isn't their Focus and have the time and money to do a track day? There isn't that many who choose to, or are able to, make it their priority to track their Focus.

I autocrossed my DD SVTF once when it was procharged. The very next day I limped it home with it breathing through it's intake runners because the intake mani blew apart a mile or so from my house... I believe the intake manifold cracked due to hitting the firewall but whatever, thats another story.

IMO, you are one of the lucky ones who is able to do that.

Do you have another car to drive when the Focus breaks? That's my point. When my intake mani went, I had to drive the wifes car, luckily she was off that day for whatever reason but if she wasn't.. it would have been hello Enterprise... That is my point, along with individual priorities.

i have a miata also, but my GF drives that daily since we had to sell her car, so no i dont have another car to depend on to get to work if the focus bites the dust at a event, i have to ride my bike till its fixed

Not to pick on you personally, but…

It would be great if this kind of mindset could be eradicated from the "tuner" world.

It's simply not true. And those that perpetuate such 2+2=5 drivel need a carbon fiber dunce cap jammed onto their melon.
