Ok so New years my car went from running great to just wouldent start...seemed starved for fuel...so after about a week of debating and checking out certain things I drop the tank and put in an aftermarket pump into my stock housing and sending unit...everything fit and went great im certain the install went right.....cause now the car will run and stay running it just seems to be running a bit richer and running really rough some sort of misfire.....anyone have any idea?

like I said the car went from runnning like a champ jump back in it and it was dead.....replaced the fuel pump...now the car will start and run but its for sure not running right....idle seems rough and my car sounds like a freakin motor boat...its way louder and just sounds horrible

Any CEL's? Did you try resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery? You may want to try changing the fuel filter, if you stirred up junk in the tank, it could have blocked it.

If you rev it up a bit does it die? Is it only rough at idle?

it will rev too higher RPMs but kind of hesitant....its a diff kind of bog than im use too...the car was reving fairly clean going down the street but its just missing some power and smoothness throughout the powerband....my car sounds like a diesel LOL....the filter is new

Perhaps one of your injectors is clogged or not working, making your engine basically run on only 3 cylinders. It would explain why it sounds horrible, doesnt run smoothly and is missing some power. Are you using stock or aftermarket injectors?

You can check to see if you have a dead cylinder by disconnecting spark plug wires one at a time with the engine running. So for example, start with cylinder 1 and pull off the plug wire, the engine should be rougher or sound different if it is firing correctly. Reconnect it and repeat for the other 3. If you find one that doesn't make any difference when you disconnect the plug wire, then that is the cylinder that is dead.

Don't leave the plug wires disconnected for more than maybe 10 seconds with the engine running, you don't want to dump too much unburned fuel into your cat converter.

imma try that out......i hope I dont need injectors..they are factory injectors with 145k on them..really high mileage but it ran fine up until 1 day it just quit

the new pump definatly helped because the car would not run at all last time....now it runs and will idle and not die but has an extreme loss of power and runs really rough...thanks for the help guys

when I pulled of #1 from the coil the car seem to run a bit better??? anyone have any ideas....it shouldent run better on 3 cylinders lol
Almost sounds like a misfire, but if it was misfiring, it should throw a CEL. Since you said it was running fine prior to you having a fuel pump issue, I am wondering what you fuel pressure is at the rail. Do you have any way to measure it? If you have or know someone with an XCal you should be able to log it.

You can check if your fuel injectors are working by listening to them, you should hear them clicking if you put your ear close to them.
