Wow that horrible. I'm always afraid this is going to happen to me.

There were some local kids killed in the same manner recently.... sad to hear....

Our prayers are with his family

I always use jackstands. If I'm taking a wheel off, I also slide it under the car as well...it won't keep the car from hitting me, but it might be enough to keep it from doing too much damage.

That really sucks. Sad to hear about the loss of a friend of friends.

he did, that is what makes this such a freek accident.
Not to start an argument but the report said it was on a jack not jack stands. Do you have another story that supports this?

Sorry to hear that. My condolences. I've been much more comfortable getting under my vehicle for projects as of late. This is def a reminder to be safety conscious at all times.

His friends confirmed it:

Jeremy Jones
Jack stands were used. He was installing a new clutch so doing that on just a jack is pretty much impossible. Ben was a great friend of mine. He was adament about safety when working on his cars. Unfortunitly it was a freak accident that claimed the life of an awesome guy and amazing friend. You will be sorely missed my friend

Jackstands were in use, I knew this man, he was using them. I will miss you so much Ben!!

Did the car tip off the jackstands? I was thinking about this yesterday while i was under my XR. Jacked up, then two stands, then shake the car to make sure it's stable, then place the jack back under the jacking point as a "just incase"

Definitely gave new perspective to sitting with my face underneath the engine cradle, that's for sure.
