Should work without much of a hitch. The only real issues I can forsee are the vehicle speed sensor and the clutch/flywheel. SVT flywheel and pressure plate with an MTX75 disc maybe? :dunno:

Don't the gauge cluster and the ECU talk to each other for anti-theft purposes also? Maybe I'm confusing that with one of my previous motorcycles.

Well I'm doin the svt swap into my 01 sedan and am wondering whether or not the 5 speed will be better gearing for acceleration such as 1/4 miles and autocross than the 6 speed would be....wat about the harnesses also???? I'm not so certain that the mtx75 harness is gonna directly plug into the svt harness. I will also be using the svt pcm and any thing else svt I can get for a fairly reasonable price. Btw I have an automatic zetec right now. The zetec had bout 189xxx before it blew...R.I.P zetec :bang:

The thing about our 6 speed is the first gear is REALLY tall! I did the autocross at the car craft summer nationals annnd I didn't even get within 1500 rpm's of redline. Rocks for auto-x not gonna be great on drag racing. Although you can change the driveline gear to a steeper one the engine already is at 3k rpms at around 70 mph. Which seems to kill better mpg but is also only about half way to redline. It's an interesting set up for a transmission. Can break almost every speed limit in second gear but still only get upper 20's mpg for most people.

Never dealt with the 5 speeds but I have a feeling it will be much more spread out and a much nicer first gear.

5th gear in the MTX-75 and 6th gear in the Getrag have VERY similar ratios.

The main difference is 1st and 2nd gear.

A 5 speed will work with an SVT motor and ECU, but you will need all correct sensors, shift linkage, clutch components, etc, etc. It's not a super straightforward swap and you will probably run into some sort of problem your first time around.

^^beat me to it. You will need to use the regular zetec clutch and flywheel or an aftermarket one for the regular zetec.

I've been wanting to do this swap for years. I would love to see how the SVTF is with the 5 speed. I imagine it would be like having a Type R tranny in a integra compared to the stock tranny (shorter gearing, more acceleration)

What about the bolts & pattern on the crank? Can you swap over to a MTX flywheel & clutch setup? Leaving the SVT flywheel & clutch setup behind could only be a good thing.

bolt patter on the SVT crank is same as zetec

always wanted to do this myself...

Could anyone post all the components that would be needed? Sensors, plugs etc

Pete (illinipo) has a tutorial on the swap. He lists all the parts and tells you how much of a pain it is. He did auto-tragic to MTX swap, but you will still have to change a fair amount of things even with the SVT.

hmmm....wat about wat kind of power the stock mtx clutch can take? And the transmission? I will be looking at going FI a bit after I get the swap complete. So how much power can it handle? So far it looks like I'm gonna do it. I think I will have the first svt swapped mtx 75 sedan. WOOOO! It also looks like I have an auto trans off a zetec for sale. And my svt engine also came with a clutch. It has 22xxx miles on it. And a bunch of other zetec parts.

The stock MTX-75 clutch is weeeak. It will hold the power of the stock SVT motor, but that's as far as I would take it.

The trans can take a heck of a beating...the weakest link is the diff. If you drop a Torsen in there, it can take more power than you want to make (over 600whp).

can i get a link to this tutorial...

Yeah, look up threads created by illinipo. Or PM him.

You can't use an SVT clutch with an MTX, they aren't compatible.

It was already mentioned but I thought I'd reiterate.

You'd bog even worse than our mile long first gear. You know the solution to our terrible gearing is gobs of tq from a turbo. Makes you appreciate the long 1st gear.

Any sort of power in the Zetec with the MTX-75 makes first gear almost useless anyway. You're in it, launch, wheels start to spin, you hit redline, still spinning, and before you know it, you're grabbing for traction in second gear, then slamming into third. From my MTX-75 experience, third is a money maker gear for the Zetec cars, especially the modified cars.

I LOVE my third gear and now I'm starting to like 4th like I never used to. The 6 speed is geared great for FI. It's almost like ford intended it to be 'charged in some way
