not really. They give my sister the option to buy into benefits, but it is only worth while for full time employees. They give her about 35 hours/week, or whatever is just under full time.

It's called Starbucks.
Believe me I'd do it. Flexible hours, good bennies... The pay isn't enough to keep our house running but with some effective downsizing it may be possible to have that so-so job and some freelance projects.

Dont knock it, ive been considering getting two crappy jobs instead of one good one right now...

*sigh*
I'm not knocking it... remember, I was a barista for a while. I loved it!

Yep! There's one in Los Osos. My cousin used to work for Bux, he loved it. He still goes into the one he worked at while waiting for clients for his tutoring gig and hogs their wifi playing WoW lolz

Beth's son, Ryan, is now working at the 'bucks we hang out at.

I can't afford to take a job like that, for sure.

I'm really stuck on the "half the pay" thing at LKQ, though I know it could potentially be a really good paying job.

If you're stuck on that one thing maybe there's a reason for that. Maybe it's not the gig for you.

Has he given you any indication of what an average timeline is for going from starting pay to something more?

If he say six months and the average earner is "doing well" then that's that. But if he say, "could take two years" then that's that...

You gotz to haz da infoz...

Yeah, Mike, I'm formulating a list of questions to call him with... that's on it. :)
Sounds good buddy. Might be a good idea, like you said, to rest on it too...

man, it's a rough day at work today, I'm almost at the end of the rope...

Hale, that's a little rough. One question to ask though, what is the wage raise schedule like? Some places do it on merit some do it on time. I've experienced both. One place, I started at the lowest salary point they had and 2 weeks later i had $3/hr raise and at 3 months I had another $3/hr plus they started my benefits at 1 month instead of 3 months. They were that impressed with me.

Another place I was at, they went on time. After 3 months I got beniefits, didn't get a financial raise for over a year and when I did it was a quarter an hour.

I quit there 2 weeks later. That was an insult.

This thought has crossed my mind as well. There is a shopping center locally that has a Bucks and a liquor store. I could potentially be dealing with the same clientele grabbing a coffee in the morning and a 12-pack on the way home.

On a side note- I am totally hooked on Pandora. I've set up a "Radio Station" for the Ohio Players and I get nothing but 70's funk. I love me the internets.
