Carefully support the engine with a block of wood on a hydraulic jack under the oil pan, then remove the bolts that hold the mount to the engine and the brace to the body... get a shop/Haynes/Chilton manual to show you tips. Remove the mount from the brace and replace... IIRC.

I think I'm going to be doing this soon as I get a job again. I'm not sure if its my pass motor mount though. Would the car make less noise when accelerating if the pass side motor mount was bad. Also it sounds like its coming from the pass side.

If you haven't already done so, buy a Ford original mount. Aftermarket replacements from auto parts stores are made out of solid rubber and transmit quite a bit of vibration to the chassis. If you are looking to reduce vibrations, OEM is the way to go.

However, of strength is a priority, then the aftermarket ones may be what you need. They wouldn't be as strong as poly mounts though.

Where can I get a solid aftermarket one that isn't poly? Just regular solid rubber? I got a liquid filled one from Advance Auto and put it on yesterday, 10 minutes of driving and the top blew off, let out all the fluid and the rubber cap jammed into my serpentine (no damage thank goodness). I'm going to have Advance replace this one since it's a lifetime warranty, but if the second one doesn't last I want to go solid rubber.

Cedilla the only issue I noticed with the passenger side mount was excessive vibration at idle when cold. What type of problem are you having?
Well it started about a year ago. On really cold mornings, I was getting a vibration on idle, and on deceleration. When I would go over a dip or speed bump it would make a vibration/rattle when the suspension would compress. Then it got to the point when it would do it every time the car was cold, then lately its doing it all the time, but it gets quieter as the car warms up.

As its vibrating it makes a loud noise that sounds like if you stuck a vibrating piece of metal against another piece of metal. It makes the noise at idle, and as the front suspension compresses. The fact that it does it at idle, is making me think that its a motor mount, instead of a suspension component, however im not a mechanic.

This is identical to what happened in our Focus. We thought CV shaft because of how it did it when we were backing up, sometimes when turning, and when we hit bumps. The suspension checked out, the CV shaft we replaced and the noise was still there. Turned out to be the motor mount. I replaced it with an Anchor mount from Advance and it fixed all of the issues...for 15 minutes. Then the top of the new mount blew off, bled out all the fluid and I need to replace it again. Luckily it is a "lifetime" part so I get to trade it in for another.

^Thanks, as soon as I'm employed again, I'm gonna buy a new motor mount, and I gotta replace the PCV hose too.
Yeah, I just got my second new motor mount in (first one exploded). It is another Anchor, direct replacement for the first one crapping out, but this one says "Made in Thailand" instead of "Made in China" and it appears to be of better quality with less rough edges on the aluminum housing etc. We'll see how it lasts. So far, twice as long as the other one.

This one just crapped out on me. Time for either an OEM Ford mount or a Steeda...not sure which yet.

Welcome to the party all of you.................................Ford, Ford, Ford is all one can say when it comes to the passenger side mount unless you like being under your hood all the time. I generally do not embrace Ford parts due to their pricing structure but you are quite frankly asking for it if you do not get this mount from them. The top plate inside the mount is firmly pressed and swedged in a Ford mount, all the aftermarket ones are a weak press fit to allow the top to blow out in 5 minutes, 10 minutes, a month, who knows? I went through several myself before giving up.

Most common sign of dead pass mount is cold start vibration that gradually gets better as the engine fully warms up, worse in winter and can appear to disappear in summer. The bottom rubber can also tear loose from the metal body, that shows up as vibration that comes and goes as you hit rolls or bumps at highway speeds. It usually is worse on the passenger side then and can often be felt in the floorboard.

There were some solid rubber mounts made but most no longer. Ordering an Anchor part you added 'SR' to the part number for a solid rubber part.

Any clunking not the mount, try sway bar end links, common to rattle or clunk at bumps on Focus cars.

I ordered an OEM one from TascaParts.com yesterday. Sick and tired of dealing with crappy Anchor mounts. Hopefully this one lasts as long or longer than the original (8years and 100k miles). The Anchor only lasted 2.5 years and 40k miles.

Good find, but Tousley has them for $76.66, then somewhere between $8-15 shipping, depending on how he sends it and where you live.
