I'm looking for some idea on smoked tail lights on my focus.. I don't want to just do a plain jane 100% tint over the lights..

I was maybe thinking of a STAR idea but.. am unsure at this point.

Upload your images and state the method of your "tinting" nature.

I think stars or other shapes look dumb on any car unless they go with an overall theme. I have seen a fade that was darkest on the outer edges and came in to very light tint in the center that looked pretty good. Pretty sure they used niseshade

Do you have hatchback or sedan? what year?

heres mine, didnt want them completely black so i didnt put it on too heavy. i also left the reverse prtion clear as you can see. i use niteshades.

I used Niteshade as well. I put tape over the outer chrome part and sprayed the center to where I wanted it. I then took off the tape and did a light coat on the chrome to give it some variance.

My advice is to avoid sprayi tint on, as eventually you'll want to undo it. You can sand it off, but its much easier to peel tint off.
spray is very easy to get off, ive done it myself about a month or two ago. Didnt require any sanding. Had to redo my tail lights.

Wow R2cool4u, those lights look awesoem! I never would of thought of the different layers peel away method. Thats a damn good idea.

I still like the star idea man.. lol Maybe if I could make the ENTIRE light look tinted then when you hit the brakes, you SEE STARs.. that would be soemthing different and I would love it..

I'm not a fan of leaving the reverse lights "un-tinted"

Still up in the air for designs.. I WANT SOEMTHIGN TOTALLY DIFFERENT

How'd do most of you guys smoke yours?... with the vht nite shades right.. Ive heard if you mix up clear with black in an actual gun it will come out on your lights like a thousand times better than that vht rattle can stuff.. only guide i can find is this smoked tail lights tint guide. Although it seems the rattle can method def works wonders!

No they're ebay lol. You can tell because they don't have any reflective source inside, just straight up chrome. I hate chrome, but they looked alright after tinted.
