I have a 2002 Ford Focus ZX3 with Zetec engine...close to 170,000 miles. Last week, the check engine light comes on. I take it to the dealership...they say it's the vapor management valve...and replace it to the tune of $600 freaking dollars.
Today, the light comes on again. I found out a friend has one of those engine code reader things. It's throwing the same freaking code!!! P0455! Few questions...
1) Can I get the dealership to fix this at no additional cost? Or will I have to pay above the $600 I already paid?
2) I'm guessing they checked simple things like gas cap and hose lines. What else could it be? Could I do it myself? (The stupid VMV looks like 2 bolts and a few connections...should have taken them 30 minutes tops...$400+ in labor my arse.)
3) How important is this system? Can I ignore it?
Thanks!
