ok so poly exhaust, mounts and new VC gasket all done today. progress, I like it .

Edit: almost forgot, thanks trailbikerider for the help

very similar to mine :D

Except you have the SVT grill and purple bits :(ive got blue strut bar and will be painting valve cover wrinkle blue shortly)

Thought about buying some redline hood struts? I know ive been tempted but they are $100 =/

buy hoodstruts for #racecar? you are to funny

Now if only I could get the *** **** ************ valve cover to seal. I have been through 2 felpro gaskets, torque too spec per alldata manual. ******* thing still leaks at the back exhaust side corner.

Could be excessive crankcase pressure due to high rpm at the track. Get the cfm pcv delete, and vent the crankcase and valve cover to a breather, with an actual breather. Not like a mishimoto one.

Yeah that is a plan. Need to order the hardware for that. I could also leave the oil separator and just put a connector in place of the PCV valve. Can I remove the separator without removing the header?

I have had the Redline struts on my SVT almost since I bought the car in early 2004 and they've been awesome. I got the more expensive set with the fully chromed bodies. Ten years old and still yank the bonnet up out of my hand when I open it. If you get a set you'll need a pop rivet gun. Also make sure to paint the holes you drill in the bonnet and fenders before fastening the mounts. I think I also dipped the head of each rivet in RTV to seal the holes. So far not a spot of rust.

Tough one, im not too sure. Buy the seperator because its baffled, and you can run big AN fittings and lines.
buy what hat oil separator? The CFM thing looks like it is only a fitting to fit the block.

If you remove the vacuum portion of the PCV system you effectively remove all airflow through the crankcase. This results in excessive oil fog, slightly increased windage loss, and little removal of fuel vapor. Ever seen a top fuel dragster blow its engine? 90% of the time it's because of excessive fuel contamination of the sump.

The valve cover isn't going to leak unless the PCV system is totally plugged or the gasket is really not sealing. When replacing gaskets I use a piece of scotchbrite on the head sealing surface until it is perfectly shiny and uniform with no traces of debris. Then I put a very thin smear of RTV on the flat surface before installing the new gasket. Never had a leak.

Re: 03 EAP black - DD/racecar madness

I'll have to do that next time.

You remove the factory seperator, and install the cfm piece. Run a an line to a breather tank and run it to atmosphere. Or just a simple hose barb and rubber line to keep the cost down.

Re: 03 EAP black - DD/racecar madness

Why to atmosphere? With the line disconnected from the intake manifold, airflow drops to almost zero. It would be much more wise to plumb the separator back to the intake downstream of the throttle so manifold vacuum constantly moves air and scavenges the sump. That or plumb it to a small oil proof electric air pump.

why am I worried about some oil in my intake, that has been happening for 11 years. I thought I was supposed to be worried about pressure. which assuming the system is working properly, which it is, I dont see a benefit yet. just a $100cost and having to figure out how to install it all and plug the bung on the intake.

Re: 03 EAP black - DD/racecar madness

If you vent to atmosphere you don't have to worry about plumbing it back into the intake and then you don't want the oil blowing lam over your bay so you'll want a catch can. I got a 20$ off eBay and it does the job perfect for what I need it to.

But that isnt a worry right now, cuz it is already setup and it functionos correctly. So I dont get what you are saying.
