Maybe you need to get this perspective right first...................let me refresh your memory...........

'nowhere have I ever seen that a 2003 TPS will direct swap to a 2000 TB.'

From me. You got bit. Look at the code, it is directly related to the TPS, anything else you do away from that is only going to make you more crazy, you're getting lost now. P0123 means you have too much current there, you cannot get that from wiring issues, only incorrect switch pretty much. Obvious now that the later '03 TPS clocks again different like every other time Ford does this stupid sh-t. You need the throttle body that goes with THAT switch, what I was hinting at before with that quote. It clocks different. Any time the switch gets rotated it changes the output volts, how they work. You have too much, you need to get it lower, or around .9 volt and no more at idle and around 4.5 volts at wide open throttle, the TB hole location sets that up. As long as you keep changing parts with no regard for electrical values there you will most likely be getting crazier. You gotta be right where the PCM wants it. Even five degrees error in rotation screws it up.

Take a big washer, drill two holes in the outside edge to match the holes in switch, grind off switch outside hole lugs and then with longer sheetmetal screws and washer on top of switch as a clamp you can set that switch anywhere you want, it can be turned in a full circle to get any output volt you want. Use a voltmeter to set the idle at .9 volts, tighten down screws just enough to hold switch and drive the crap out of it. Been doing one like that for a long time now and runs perfect. I'm using switch like your top pic, the MTX one that no one else can ever make work.

Or use the '03 TPS with '03 TB.....................based on your experience sounds like a must.

Forget about the P1000, it only means you need to drive the car some once problem is fixed. It will go away by itself.

Out of all things to miss in this thread and I miss one of the most important parts! Man, do I feel like an idiot. Though, now I have a much better understanding of the mechanics and purpose of the TPS. Nice to know it's more important and functional than I thought it was.
So it sounds like my cheapest option will be to modify that old MTX TPS like you suggest. I'll study your instructions more once I get some free time to attempt the fix.
I'm surprised you've kept this much patience with me lol
Thanks so much!

So I did in fact get the TPS to a fully adjustable state and got it much closer to the correct voltage, thank you amc49 for the suggestions!

I didn't want to leave the thread or whether your idea worked open ended, so I thought I'd conclude it with the good news that it did work!

I didn't get to dial it in much further though.

I started out with a stainless washer

Ground it down

And found an impressive 15-20 degrees of adjustability, which was probably enough

Really nice hack! And even better that this thread is properly concluded with the results... wish that happened more often.

Perfect and what I did except for the different screws required on your TB. And now you can adjust that sucker............
Glad that I replicated your idea well enough for it to work so well, the car ran better than it had in months! I gotta give credit where it's due, really a great idea.

Me too! It is pretty frustrating seeing a fix-it thread with no conclusive results, and I had to document amc49's idea because it really did work like a charm!

^ Cool!

Too bad there is still no "like" button anymore (that means a thread can get artificially long).
