\'03 Hyundai Tiburon

My friend had just bought a black 2003 Hyundai Tiburon with V-6, 5 speed (I told him to get a 6 speed but he didn't want to spend little extra. cheap bastard). It's a beautiful car. I'm more into performance than looks so I was skeptical and wouldn't allow its looks to fool me, it's a Hyundai for chrissake. Recently it went over the 500 mile mark which allows for him to step on it. He let me drive it around a little. The car can really move, it's very quick. I love the power of it and the sticking is so easy. One negative thing about the car is the handling, it's terrible despite the fact it has racing suspensions. If you're into rally cars, this car isn't for you. But if you want to bag some chicks and win a lot of drag races, then you should consider on getting this car. There's a turbo version with 6 speed, plenty of modification parts availble on the web to give it an extra tweak. This car makes good competition for the Dodge Neon R/T, WRX and the likes.

There is an I-4 with a 5-Speed. A V6 with either a 5-Speed or a 6-Speed, depending on which package you add.

Tell your friend to visit newtiburon.com

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Yeah, I was just thinking about that with the turbo...

My friend got a black one. He wanted the v6 with the 6 spd, but the dealer said they sold out for a long time, so he just picked up the I4 with the 5 spd. We went back like a week later and they had 2 v6 6spd on the lot. hehe...sucks for him. We took it to tracks, the first time he ran it it was like 18.4 then he actually shifted right and he dropped to 16.0...and gradually got faster...man I wish I had stick...

I really like the look of that car. Interior fit and finish is awesome as well as the style.
The drawback is the engine, how could you say it is fast ?

There is no factory turbo option at this time, although there is talk of it. The AWD swap has already been done. Apex-i is finishing up a turbo kit for the Beta. Alpine has a supercharger kit done, and a turbo kit almost done.

I had a 96 Accent GT ... 6 years and not a single problem other than a minor suspension issue. I know a few Tibs out there that will give the Foci here their lunch in a brown baggie.

Billy bob ... tell your friend to steer clear of Shark Racing.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Do you have any personal experience with one? Jumping on the anti-Korean bandwagon, reading outrageously biased articles, and seeing one in the parking lot, doesn't count as experience either.

The V6 ha a downside,It's really an SUV engine good low end power and all but after like 5 grand there is no power left at all in it.There is no since to redline it, The power dies fast. The pretty much just took the Santa FE engine and dropped it in the Tiburon
Bad choice by Hyundai. That's why it scored low in the big comparo in SCC, The engine sucks in it.

I drove one when they first came out, and I wasn't particularly impressed. It reminds me in far too many ways of my Cougar, without the good looks or sexy purr of the Duratec. Handling was about the same, power was about the same, interior was okay at best (although the seats were pure SEX
).

But for $13k, combined with the Hyundai warranty, I guess it isn't a bad buy if you want something sporty looking.

I really like my Focus. I'm in the process of mods and having a good time. Before the Focus, I had a 97 Accent. This was not a great car. It didn't have an upscale interior. The stock suspension was no better than what the 13's could handle. But, 82K and no problems. It was a very reliable car with great gas mileage. When I went looking for a new car...wanted some more size and power, and wanted to loose the "Hyundai"
stigma...Hyundai didn't have an offering for me. So I got a great deal on my Focus and really like it. I can say very easily though, had my old Accent had a manual tranny, I have no doubt I'd still be driving it today.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Hey, hey...
I think you should go back to Edmunds, and JP Power and read more.

Because you do sound like a moron
claiming that "Hyundai is actually up there between Honda and Toyota on reliability and quality control."

A hint: go to the Edmunds thread "Hyundai: Consumer Reports loves them!" where you can find the real life info on reliability, resale value and lemon case activity coming from the guys who do those things for living.
