Saint-Petersburg, Russia, August 15, 2003 – The 10,000th Ford Focus rolled off the production line at Ford's plant in Russian today.

The milestone car, ink blue station wagon, 1.6 Comfort Focus was driven off the production line at 12:00 on Friday, August 15, 2003.

Locally built Ford Focus enjoys recognition of Russian consumers since the official public launch in October 2002. Success of Ford Focus continues, during the first six months of 2003 5,244 cars were sold in the Russian market that represents 281 percent increase in sales in comparison to the same period in 2002.

In April Ford announced the addition of a second production shift in its new car plant at Vsevolozhsk, near St. Petersburg, to meet strong demand for the Ford Focus in Russia.
With the introduction of a second shift at the plant Ford’s workforce in St. Petersburg, reached 1,250 employees, and will raise production volume to an annual rate of 25,000 from December 2003. There is the potential for further expansion to 100,000 units depending on market demand.

Ford’s St. Petersburg plant, inaugurated in July 2002, is the first production facility owned by a global automotive company in Russia. With an initial investment of $150 million in the plant, Ford began production of the Ford Focus, available in 4-door, 5-door and wagon body styles and three types of engines:1.6L, 1.8L and 2.0L since October 2002.

Ford Motor Company dealer network represents 65 companies across 9 time zones and 37 regions in Russia. Ford Motor Company sales during the first six months reached 7,375 vehicles in Russia and represent 162 percent growth comparing to 2002 results.
