1000+ photos - 2006 Monterey Historics & Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance (no 56k)
I could only make it to Monterey for Saturday and Sunday this year, but still managed to cram in a lot of stuff over those two days. On Saturday morning I started at the RM Auction viewing as they had a yellow McLaren F1 (#014) on display set to be auctioned that evening. Then I headed over to Pebble to check out the displays there on Saturday (big show is Sunday) before heading to the Historics in the afternoon where another McLaren was on display (#016) and the Toyota Formula One car was due to set some fast laps. Following that I went back to the RM Auciton to witness the yellow F1 and several other beauties cross the block that evening. The yellow F1 sold for $1.55M and there was a very special 1958 Ferrari 412S that sold for an astonishing $5.1M. Both those prices were the hammer prices, with an additional 10% Buyer's Premium tacked on top later to pad the RM wallet.
Sunday I started at the Historics again to get better photos of the McLaren F1 that was there. It wears a very unique paint color called "Aubergine" and the bright sun the day before had made decent shots of it impossible. I wandered the paddock for a little while longer then I headed back out to Pebble for all that there was to see there. It was my first Concours d'Elegance and it was a great event. The featured marques this year were Delahaye and Voisin both of which are quite deserving of the attention. The cars were all beautiful and I met some great friends from around the world that I knew but had never crossed paths with before. Knowing that Aston Martin will be one of the featured marques, I will definitely be back for Pebble next year!
Since I know that most people are inherrently lazy, here's a decent sampling of photos to get you interested. There's bound to be something in there for everyone.

Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance "Best of Show" winner - Daimler Double-Six 50 Corsica Roadster
This car was actually my own pick to win the moment I saw it. You'll see from my other shots of the car, the roof was still up when I first stumbled upon it in the middle of the day. I must say it looks positively sinister while being beautiful and elegant all at once, and even more amazing with the roof folded. There were some other great finalists, but this car was truly stunning and absolutely deserving of the win. It was the owner's 27th attempt to win "Best of Show" honors at Pebble Beach too.

All in all, I took over 1000 photos - 290 of which were of the two McLaren F1s (shocking, I know...
). The entire set of photos are spread across these three Imagestation albums.
