I'm not about to try this out. But I bet you could get a decent gain from, say, removing the left-hand fog light from an SVT fascia. It would funnel air right into the filter.

Better yet, cut a hole in the hood and then turn the complete intake assembly upside down. Talk about cold air intake, and no more worrying about flooding during heavy rain.

no no no no no
hes right!!

quoted from bmorezx3 from his thread 'so close to 13.99...' in drag racing

"FOK: I netted an extra 3mph from removing the driver's side headlight. I had been running an absolutely set-in-stone 94mph. Take the headlight out and crack off four 96mph runs and a 97mph run."

I could live without an SVT fog light, but I'd have to take both off to make it look decent.

This is foolishness... Do what I'm doing... build a box around your CAI air filter, and run a sizeable duct to a concealable location in the lower grill... if ya like, taper out the opening of the duct & I'll bet you'd see ATLEAST as much improvement as this ugly-ass idea.

Actually, I made myself a cai last week. My car is a cheapo 05 without fog lites: it has the black fog lite deletes in it. I removed the 2 nuts off the delete and viola! I have a ram air focus. It has a lot more power than it had. Why SVT? Did they just change the fronts this year, because my open element filter sits EXACTLY where the would be fog light would be set. I want to dyno my car: It has a lot more power than a month ago when I bought it, and all I did was lunchbox removal/tip install (40 bucks) then just the rubber 3' 90 degree boot with open element filter from the bottom of the MAF sensor tube. It costed 10 bucks (buddy gave me filter). I left the top half of the system stock as I don't think it has much restriction to worry about, and I had tremendous gains. People at college tell me that something fell out of my bumper, then they look closer and see an open element filter tucked right in the airpath

! It's made out of some kind of wire screen and it whistles like a supercharger! I want to race a stock ST!

How do u guys post pictures? I don't have any fancy gadgetry just a computer and a cell phone that takes pictures.

You gotta find a place to host your pic. Then either post a link, or use the script [ img ] [/img ] stuff.

Oh yeah and I want to get some of that body "mesh" or whatever it is to fill in both of my deletes so that I still get a ton of air, and it looks good. Or take a dremel and go to work on the delete panel to make it a vent.

As a matter of fact, they did change the front end just this year.

But what I was thinking of is, the SVT has round foglights, which would make it much easier to simply build an airbox and use ducting to channel air into it.

Define more power???

I doubt that building ram-air intake make that much power.

What are we talking about 3-4whp max??
