Hello All!

I am not sure where to post this question. ...

I recently purchased this 2002 ZX3 that was a Steeda cover catalog car. It was built for a Ford/SEMA technology transfer initiative and did the circuits, which included :
SEMA, the Steeda Stampede, and Hot Import nights. It probably made more rounds before it was sold to a couple at the start of 2005.
Steeda in Pompano owned the car for 3 years before selling it.
My friend has been helping me source info and spoke with the Steeda folks in Florida. They didn't have much archived on it, and it's almost impossible to find what year it went to the SEMA convention.
So here is my ask: Since I am restoring it to its former glory, I am trying to find out if anyone might have any pictures of it from 2002-2004 at any of the events.

I know this is a long shot, but the car is so unique that someone might remember it or have photos.

This is the ONLY one made. It has a numbered plaque of 0000. This was the car on the cover of Steeda magazine in 2004—as the saying goes, they "threw the catalog at this car" and made everything under the hood and inside Steeda-branded.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!!

I love this thing. I was at steeda a lot during this era and saw this car quite a few times and even rode in it once after it was turbocharged. It was a hell if a lot of fun.

Hope you get someone with better photo saving abilities than me. I couldn’t find anything of this car in my folders I still have left that I didn’t lose.

I hope you keep this car and give it the love it deserves. 0000 is wild to own.

Thank you for the reply!
How awesome that you rode in it after it was turbocharged. It still has the same power!
I have fixed and done the maintenance on it since I purchased it- under the hood, it's 100%!

Since you are more versed than I could ever be, I have a question for you. Do you think I should replace the vinyl flames and have them redone? They are faded and slightly peeling. Or do you think I should keep the ones on there now and have them recolored by a professional using an airbrush?

I need parts of the car repainted - or I can have the whole car repainted if I replace the flames.

I would truly value your thoughts here.

Thanks so much!

When I rode in it the car was probably mid 200s for power. Basically whatever the precision kit would do out of the box with their tune. It’s really all that it needs and god did it make a good noise.

As for your dilemma. Truly I would take as many photos and measurements of the car and vinyl and possible right now. Along with how it looked to begin with.

Take that to a quality vinyl designer and installer and have them redone. But make sure they get them right before you take them off the car and do anything further.

Then after that, redo your paint and lay down the fresh vinyl.

That’s what I would do anyway.

Thank you again! This is most likely the direction I will go with for this beauty.

The intention is to resell it, although I am not in any hurry. And my goal is to get it back to 100% all around. I just got new tires (Nitto), as it had when Steeda had it on the Catalog cover. Resurfacing the original Steeda rims to like-new condition, and I have already spoken to one of the artists who designed the flames for the Steeda/Ford Focus roll-out of 2002. He said the same thing: have a Vinyl place trace over the flames and have them cut and color-matched. He said that's what they did in 2002- just matched it to other flames and had them cut out.

I will post pictures when the restore is complete. - The fireball will be roadworthy soon!

Thank you again for your input and advice! Sincerely appreciate it!

I’d love to see it when it’s all done for sure. Even the process would be cool to see

Okay,

This took a while, but here is the Steeda build, one of one, all finished and back to its former glory. It is exactly how it was on the cover of the catalog from 2004. I will create a new thread for it, but I wanted to respond to you as promised.
