225 on a JSRC?

I asked the easy question (which didn't really need answering, the Vortech system proved its own alone)

but here's the toughy,

what is needed to achieve at LEAST 200 on the JSRC?
I think that the JSRC has an upgrade kit from stock (including a bigger pulley and a bigger Gator-Back belt)

but what kind of setup would I have to do to reach at least 200 on the JSRC?

actually i think if it has an upgrade it would have a smaller pulley? but im not sure really but a guy that i know when he had his focus it was putting down like 185 to the wheels and he had a race header, exhaust, intake, tuning and i think thats about it including the jrsc

ok, I read the faq, so I got a basic idea.

if I wanted more power, I would have to get new MAF, Injectors, and install some sort of Water injection system (probably just go with the one JR puts out) and I would have to get a custom tuned SCT from FocusSport, because I hear Randy does a sweet tune for the JRSC.

New MIC is called tuning. You will have to get it with almost any FI kit... ALL of them need it if you plan on going past just the kit and the basic tuning that comes with it.

The WI from JR is a way overpriced, rebadged Aquamist system. It's like $599USD for a $399 kit. You can also get a good kit from Snow Performance ( http://www.mcnewsautomotive.com/Merchant...egory_Code=SNOW ) for starting at $269. I don't know about you, but I'd rather not throw down 2X the money for the same results...

And of course I must also recommend just sticking with the Vortech if you are wanting to go for 200+whp (just forget about 225whp on a normal Zetec with the JRSC.) The JRSC needs a good deal of work to get it to really start laying down power. It's a nice bolt-on for a little extra, but a difficult (and expensive) route for high power. I am currenty putting down 172whp/151tq with my JRSC and I also have: full SCT dyno tuning by Ray @ McNews, 42# injectors/ProM MAFS, tuned cam gears, 2.6" pulley, PX Vector intake, FCTB, SVT header/McNews ORP, Bosal flex, SVT stock exhaust. I am going to be putting on a 2.4" pulley and a Snow Performance stage 2 EVC water injection kit. Hopefully that will take me closer to 190whp, but I doubt I'll see 200whp yet.

Re: 225 on a JRSC?

could anyone tell me roughly what boost you get (for each) on the JRSC from the 2.6" pulley, 2.4" pulley, the stock pulley, and any other pulleys which are available.

oh and what does 172whp equate to in flywheel power? did it have the flywheel output quoted on your dyno run.

Re: 225 on a JRSC?

dynojets cannot measure flywheel horsepower, only power to the wheels. you can interpolate the figures however, but you wont be exact.

172 is around 200-210 flywheel hp. (if my math is correct)

what size pulley have you got?

Re: 225 on a JRSC?

not gonna happen, you'll see 185-190whp.
Why dont you think I will get 200whp. What would I need to get me over that mark?

i would say some headwork and an intake cam, along with the aforementioned cam gears
Agreed. You will need at least cams/cam gears & tuning. A stock exhaust cam with a stage 2 intake cam is usually a good FI combo.

The head might also be a restrictor at your higher boost level.

I am going to attempt 200whp on an M45 without headwork, but I'm skeptical at best if it will actually happen. Reasonably I know I could push it to around 190whp, time will tell.

Do you have some thing against turbo's?
I do, none of them run for more then 6 months with out having some kind of issues, or motor blowing up.
I know it may seem like that some times...

But after several custom mods at installation and as a result of initial testing, I have had nothing but trouble free and excellent performance with my current turbo system... pretty sure it has been over 6 months too since I finalized the configuration, and getting close to 3 years on the stock engine with a turbo.

Top quality hardware, thorough component and fitup examination and modification as necessary, and overall close attention to detail during installation are key to avoiding headaches... as with any mod.

But SCs are cool and if I were to do a daily driver all over again from scratch I would look real hard at the Power Works system.
