I just got a Sony XAV-AX100 for cheap (considering import taxes in Ecuador, the discounted $400 price was really cheap).
I got all the gear I need on the way, the metra kit, the harness, the antenna adapter, and even the steering wheel adapter thing. I thought I had done my homework but after checking the install results....

Well I'm not as excited anymore. It looks like the metra kit material is quite cheap and it seems you end up with gaps all over the place.

My questions now:

1. Do you think the connects2 2din fascia is a better solution?

2. Is the 2din unit actually wider? I've read you have to trim it but a few guides imply it isn't really, at least not wider than the bezel, may be actually wider than the stock radio hole but that's not gonna show so that isn't a big concern.

3. If I get that double din panel, how do I get a proper finish, it seems it's matte black. My foci is a Ghia edition, not sure if there was an equivalent in the US, it has a sort of black wood finish on the dash.

The fascia I may buy

The guide:

The stock dash trim:

That's about it, thanks for any help you can give me

I've installed several of the Metra kits. There won't be any gaps if cut correctly. The only thing with the kit is how far back the deck sits.
