Does your friend know much about cars? If so, he'd understand that it's not about how much power you have and be a dyno queen, but rather how much power you can use and put to the ground effectively.

There are plenty of 400+ whp focus'. There really isn't a need for anything more due to traction issues.

Just show him the FS Werks cars, Search Focus Sport and FS Werks on Youtube and you'll find their turboed Foci blowing the doors off some pretty serious cars on a road course.

In fact, show him this. Watch the little Focus reel in and pass Porsches and Corvettes.

Watching the Focus all over those guys though the turns and pulling them on the straights is priceless!!

Like the other guys already said, unless it's a pure drag car with big slicks on it theres just no point to a 500whp Focus. You'd be spinning the front tires through all five gears on a street car.

Your friend obviously doesn't know much about cars... to base a decision on whether to ridicule, respect, or simply ignore any car, depending on whether a 2.0 liter can hit 500hp on pump gas is just plain totally ignorant :lol: :lol: :lol:

Tell him to keep his silly ideas to himself until he learns something about automobiles in general and engines especially. All the above suggestions should help him out a bit.

 

Well my friend seems to think he knows everything about cars....

in particular he thinks his mitsubishi galant is the best thing to ever roll off an assembly line on 4 wheels. He was giving me **** cause I bought winter rims and tires when im still using stock wheels during the summer. Im sorry but if you didnt notice my stock rims are the FRPP euro style SVT rims. This is a hell of a nice stock rim in my opinion. He was braggin up his "Ray's" rims that he got cause they are the company that makes formula 1 racing rims....wooopdeee doooooo.... But in the end he said he would stop making fun of focus's if I could show him 500 whp on pump gas.

 

Uness his car is a VR4, there are plenty of stock Foci out there that can run his car into the ground. If it is a VR4, tell him to have fun when his crank decides to take up cross-country running... Also, with a basic turbo set-up, a Focus ( with Zetec, Duratec, or SVT Zetec) can provide greater power than his car with much greater reliability.

Wow... uhh... yea. I have a car that makes 550+whp and over 600lb-ft of torque. Driving my near stock Focus with mild suspension upgrades on race tires was ALOT easier, better and quite frankly more fun than the full on race car. I could and DID harass MUCH more powerful cars because the focus had better suspension. To be stuck with any one car is a wonderful way to work yourself into a corner.

Ask your friend whether his Mitsubishi Galant has gotten him promoted yet to Shift Manager at McDonald's. Then ask him if he's gotten the memo on the TPS reports.

Then inform your friend that the Ford Focus RS is the fastest ever production Ford track car, even faster around the track than the GT 500.

Then ask him if his 163mph car will surpass 38mpg.

Finally, if that doesn't work, ask him if he can get a rubber band-powered balsa wood glider to surpass 200mph. That should be an analogy to what a stupid question it is that he's asking.

It's funny how many people bash the focus among the tuner/euro crowd but when you talk to guys that actually track their cars you get all kinds of respect. :thumbup:

The only thing "sad" about that "little Focus" is how it makes the other drivers feel when they think of how much money they wasted on their cars, and how much less fun they are having then if they had bought a Focus.

 

I think that a lot of people forget that the Focus is a $15k 130bhp car from the factory...it takes a lot to increase the output of that 5x. That would be like saying, man, that ZR1 sucks because it doesn't have 3000whp!!!

6bolt 4g63 motors can hold some crazy whp. My friend Jimmy holds the world record for bolt on HP to a stock 6bolt 4g63 motor, Talon TSI. But DSM's break down, a lot..Galant VR-4 is a 6bolt 4g63t. Ask him if he can show you the 500whp on the bus he's riding in when that DSM breaks. But hey, it fixes easy enough, just need some zip-strips and ductape..lol

To keep up, "Dave" definitely needs more power, but also better tires and a finer suspension set-up. The RS was really screaming though!:thumbup:
