My wife's boss is looking for a '59 Rambler wagon to restore. (don't ask me why, cause I don't know :lol
If this huge network of car nuts has anyone that either a) owns one they'd like to sell or b) knows of one for sale, please let me know by PM.

Anyway, I found this one on ebay, but it's pretty much redone.

I don't really hang out with that genre much anymore...

May I suggest looking in Hemmings Motor News and Goodguys' [weekly/monthly magazines or online equivalents]?

The HotRod Rambler wagon needs an AMC 390 or 401...none of this cross-breeding-put-a Chevy-in-everything-garbage.

Bit of trivia: Anyone know what the second-quickest car made in 1957 was (Second behind the Corvette)? A: Rambler Rebel 327 CID. (AMC's 327 was an old Packard design...not the same as the Chevy 327of later years---but it was in a very light car and was a big engine for its time--the Vette only had a 283).

Well in that case, I'd like to restore a '65 Pontiac GTO.

LOL, kidding; that was the car I got my license in and spent my fist night on my own, driving solo in. My stepdad's a pretty cool guy.

In that case, then, I'd like to restore a '65 VW Variant S 1500 wagon; a squareback. That's was my first car; the car I learned to double-clutch in, then heel-and-toe. :thumbup: Put them both together, and you had one 16 yr old displaying some pretty fancy footwork. It's one reason why I let the autotragic comments slide here on the 'jet...

Guess I need to find and restore a 1980 Plymouth Champ with the split-shift. :lol:

When my buddy and I were on the shifters.... 1st power... 1st economy... 2nd power... 2nd economy... and so on, that thing would flat scoot! :thumbup:

Actually, that would be a freakin fun car to tune and have surprise a few people. :garage:

*PS. I had a '69 Squareback. It was a firetrap just waiting to happen. :lol: Mechanical fuel injection was a bad idea.:thumbdown
