Hi, I have a TP showing on the LCD. I listen to the same station all the time ant the TP comes and goes. What does it mean? Nothing in the book. Also does anyone know if there are audio inputs on the back?

Thanks

Re: 9006 Audiofile Questions

If I remember right, it has to do with the stuff the station you listen to puts out. Like it may show weather or stocks or stuff like that. Mine does it rarely not living near a major city, but when I visited LA and SD, I saw it do it a lot and show those types of things.

I think it only comes up on stations that broadcast traffic reports.

Re: 9006 Audiofile Questions

Ok can anyone explain to me why sometimes the diplay will lock on something and stay there for awhile. Lets say i just heard something by TOOL. Next song and the song after and so on will sometimes still say TOOL. Doesn't scroll across with the radio station name/ name of the song/ name of the band/ etc. just that one thing. Now sometimes it will stick on other stuff like the name of the band/ station/ etc. This normally seems to happen when i turn the car off and then the next morning or the next time i restart it it'll be like this for awhile then go away but i think it's done it to me while i was driving before too. This a problem with the stereo or with the radio station?

What you're seeing is because the radio displays what it detects in the RDS signal until new data comes in. As new data comes in it replaces the old. I see that quite often when I have to drive behind a mountain to and from work that blocks a direct signal from the radio station towers. As soon as I clear the mountain and the RDS signal gets through the display changes to the new data stream. Same thing when you turn off the radio. The last received data will be displayed next time you turn it on until new data is received or you wait a short time for the buffer to clear or you change the station. Everyone I know that lives in my area reports the same thing on RDS capable radios in various brands of cars. I've also noticed that the RDS signal is much weaker than the actual audio signal and will tend to "go offline" while the audio still sounds ok.

Bottom line is that it's not worth worrying about.

In Europe the "TP" indicator means that the station that you are currently listening to supports Traffic Announcements/Programming.

Unfortunately, it's not supported on the US Radios fully. In Europe on the 9006, the "Clock" button is replaced with a "TA" button. TA = Traffic Announcements. When you are driving around, if you press the TA button, it turns on Traffic Announcements. Then, you can be listening to a CD or even a different Radio station, and if a local Radio Station broadcasts a traffic update (along with broadcasting the magic hidden RDA "TA" signal - which most UK radio stations do) - then your CD will pause and the display will show "TRAFFIC", and auto-tune into whatever Radio station is currently playing a traffic annoucement.

I had this on every Ford car I owned that came with an RDS radio... all the way back to probably 1993

"Audiophile", in any country, means CRAP...lol. I hate mine with a passion...cd player is busted, ate my cd's...thank god for iPods.

Next wad of cash goes into an aftermarket head unit with iPod compatibility.
