The flex pipe does nothing to dampen vibration of the exhaust, but it is a flexible connector between the engine mounted exhaust manifold / cat which is very rigid and the chassis mounted exhaust system allowing for engine movement without breaking or causing excessive movement to the rest of the system by flexing while still maintaining the integrity of the exhaust system sealing.Originally posted by methknome:
