Sure go for it I used to bypass the altinator, and power steering or a/c ,and just run a belt to the water pump when I was racing my camaro. You should be good on a couple of runs. I know this because I had to drive my ZTS from work to home then to the parts store and then back home all on the battery that was about 32 miles all to gether.

While your focus will use more electrical power in general than my Solo Vee with no alt/generator, running without the alternator should be safe for an hour or so if absolutely necessary. I have run 32+ AutoX laps (just under a minute each) between two drivers over 2 weekends before recharging the battery just to be safe. I have also driven my escort for over 20+ minutes straight with no belt on the alternator (because that joint broke) and the car still started and ran for the next 5 days while I played with shorter belts to bypass the AC on that.

I want to get a shorter belt to bypass my AC and my alternator for race purpose (1/4 mile)

how long can I run the car witout alternator hook up???

how much gain can I expect from those 2 item bypass... 10hp?

anyway, its just for a few pass down the 1/4 to get some good times... so no flamming, thanks.

Wouldn't it make more sense to just get an UDP? It might only net a few HP, but wouldn't it make more sense than having to swap the belts each time you go to the track? I would think you wouldnt be able to get more than 1 or 2 passes before the alternator died.

I have all the underdrive pulley, I already run descent times... I just want to push the limit for a couple pass and see whats the best I can manage...

I dont intend in running this belt each time I race... I just want to see the difference...

also I think the alternator dont do much in WOT...

Am I right???

i can see runnign by bypassing the a/c , but i wouldn't suggest running without the alternator, i don't know how long you coudl go, but it woudl jsut be better run run without a/c and maybe without power steering, but not the alternator
