Aligment help

1160 Views 11 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  pitchblack23
I have a 2002 SVT and am going to be getting new tires and an also going to have it aligned. I found the Facotry specks.

Form what I am seeing here for the front the camber is -.6° fornt toe is -.08°, and for the rear -1° camber with +.15° toe. with a wide range of varance.

I am looking for some recomadations for aligments specks. I use the car for daily driven with 4-5 track days a year and about the same amount of Auto-X.

Thanks for the help.

I'd say stick to the factory specs for a daily driver.
As you noticed, Tolerance is as big as a barn door.
If you stick to those SPEC #'s, (Not just "Within Tolerance") you should be Fine.
Here's what I would change...
You want ALL the Negative Front camber that you can get, to the extent that both sides match.
(You'll need lower springs and/or a set of camber plates to change that, though).
I would set the rear toe closer to 0.
Rear camber is OK if you go with spec, but for Auto-X, I'd try to get more negative out of the front than the rear.

This is my set-up for track and auto-x

Camber front: -2°
Camber rear: -1.7°
Caster front: 3.75
Toe front: 1/16 out each side for a total front toe out of 1/8
Toe rear: 0 total
This is an awesome set-up, the turn-in is sooooooooooo much better with that spec

So would something like -1° front camber, stock toe. For the rear -1.5° camber, 0° toe?

Don't really want to kill the new tires, but would like to have some fun at the track too.

I appreicate the help.
Re-Read the Spec chart.
Front toe is Slightly OUT.
Also, You want MORE negative camber in the front than the rear.

Ok lets try this then.

Front
-1.5° Camber
-1/16th Toe (out)

Rear
-1° Camber
0° Toe
Looks Good.
The only trick is getting those camber #'s nice and even without investing in camber bolts and plates.
If you have those, those settings look Great for a car that sees regular street duty in addition to Track and Auto-X.

Don't forget that caster increases camber at the front wheels when the wheels are turned.

Z63R do you know who much? Will it really be that noticable?
Unless I'm mistaken, caster is very difficult to change on MacPherson struts. It's more of a consideration for track day cars than street-driven vehicles.
