Well, while changing my alternator today (which, as it now turns out, may not have needed replacing), I dug in and found some of the wiring to the alternator was all melted and whatnot (the shop that installed turbo apparently failed to pull these away from the downpipe and I never noticed. D'oh!)

So anyways, I was wondering if it is safe to just cut out the bad and connect in some new. I don't know why it wouldn't work, but I'm not very electrically inclined, so...

That will be fine but I would recomend that you solder the connections and heat shrink them. Good luck,
