I would like to get a set of those if they hold true to the statement on the f.c site. they say to bring down 3/10's of a second off ur quarter mile. are they alot shorter then stock, good w/mpg, and does it help out alot?
anybody in here try the 4.06 gear set? from F.R or F.C?

no, would be the rear sprockets on the bicycle that would do similar, u go 2 a bigger cog out back, u can acclerate much faster but u run outta gear quicker. same here goin 4.06 vs 3.82. higher highway rpm 2 do speed limit, will get up 2 it quicker but engine has to turn a few more rpms (had the rough figure a while back, 4get now). great if u drag'n, but can u sacrifice the rest of the time w/ur car. nah. plus so many more parts and assembly involved.
here's what u do instead, cheaper more effective....
....run shorter tires at the track (whether u autoX, drag radials, or slix). then when u leave throw stockers on and back 2 normal!

hmm... changing out a bigger/smaller front sprocket on a bike will change the gear ratio for all of the rear sprockets, changing one rear sprocket won't change the ratio for the rest of the rears

i have the 4.06s in my race tranny.
i noticed NO change in gas mileage when driving around with it for the summer however i drive 99% in the city and i'm not what you would call a light-footed driver.

i did notice slightly higher rpm when i was on the highway but nothing extreme.
and here is something i posted on Clubfocus a long time ago as a basic refference:
also note that to reach such speeds in a focus it better have a lot of power to do so... don't expect your 130fwhp to hit those speeds.

now what a lot of people NEED to understand is the focus becomes extremely unstable at sustainspeeds speeds above 140mph without serious exterior enhancements to the aerodynamics of the car and undercar aerodynamics wouldn't hurt either.

shorter tires guys, much more cost effective and only used when track driving is on the menu
