What do you mean by "lower tie bar"? I've never seen a lower bar for the front struts, and the rear wouldn't gain any benefit from them. While Hondas typically use lower tie bars for their rear struts, our control blade multilink system doesn't see enough flex in that area to benefit.
I have seen it for the rear.. That is why I was wondering if there was a need for it?? Goodpoint on the multi-link.
Front tie bar eliminates flexing at the lower control arm chassis pick-up points.
Rear tie bar eliminates flexing common in the low-mounted rear control arms.

They said that tie bars are improving stability and handling in all driving situations. But i dont think so, I'm not going to waste money on these bars anymore for focus...
Also i find a rear tie bar for focus:

What? The lower control arms are mounted directly to the rear subframe. I fail to see how a flimsy bar is going to stop a large piece of boxed steel from flexing. Also, that picture is rear-wheel drive, aside from having a suspension obviously different than the Focus' multilink.

That is a show piece at best.

Real suspension mods start with springs, shocks, and swaybars.

...anything else is an incremental change to either reinforce for metal fatigue or stabilze a major component.
Thats what I figured... Useless paperweight.. Just cause somebody makes something, does not mean ya need it.
There are companies that make a front lower tie-in bar for the FOcus. They run about $80-$150 depending on the manufacturer. My car it too low to run one.

that isnt a picture of the focus. if you've ever looked under the back of your car you'd know the rear LCA's are like a foot apart mounted to the subframe.

i ran an aluminum front tie for a while. it seemingly improved steering response a pinch, but it was no more than an inch off the ground, so it hit absolutely everything.

save your money.

i had one on the focus. it was from FK suspension. it went underneath the car and mounted on either end by being sandwiched in between the bolt and the mounting point for the LCA.

the FK bar itself was a crappy design using cheap material. i scraped it constantly and was not impressed with how easily i could bend it. however, the bar did seem to eliminate the car's tendency to torque-steer to the right whenever i went to launch it. that's about it.
