All New Audi S4 Drop Top to be Shown at Frankfurt IAA
The qualities of a Cabrio, connected with the power of a V8 motor and the security of Quattro all-wheel drive: the Audi S4 Cabrio becomes quite interesting as both a boulevard cruiser and a highly competent sports car. For the first time, a 2-door drop-top S4 will be shown in September 2003 on display at the IAA in Frankfurt. Sales of the vehicle begin in Spring 2004 according to Audi. Price has not yet been confirmed.
The S4 Cabrio differs from other A4 Cabrios in several ways: bumpers with large spoilers, titanium-look xenon headlights and aluminum rearview mirrors are unmistakable trademarks. The car also features the same 18-inch wheels from the S4 sedan and Avant models, as well as S4 badging.
The sporting design is also carried over to the interior including Audi's three-spoke steering wheel with S4 emblem. As with the S4, buyers will have a choice between carbon-fiber and aluminum dash trim configurations.
Utilizing all 344hp and Quattro all-wheel drive, the S4 Cabrio can propel itself from 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds and tops out at a governed 155mph. Power is delivered through a short-ratio 6-speed manual transmission, and a 6-speed Tiptronic will also be offered for those who don't care to row their own gears all of the time.
I think I would still take the Sedan though, but that is a mighty fine piece of tin!
