Many of you have asked for them over the years, well we finally decided to add avatars on Focaljet. Here are a few guidelines for avatar use. I'll keep it simple.

  • If you do NOT want to view avatars at all, then follow these simple instructions to ensure they are turned off.

This will keep keep [FJ] appearing to you just like it did before avatars were added.

  • No animated avatars. Only static jpg images allowed.

  • Follow the Focaljet Guidelines when choosing your avatar.
If it something doesn't meet the guidelines for posting in a thread, then it won't for work for an avatar either.

  • All avatars are subject to review/removal per admin discretion.

Have fun with them guys. I can't wait to see what some of you pick to represent you on the forums.

Here's a hint for those of you with avatars that have white backgrounds.

  • With the forum open, hit "Print Screen" on your keyboard.
  • Open up your favorite image editing software. I use Paint Shop Pro so I'll use that for my specifics.
  • Paste the print screen in the program
  • Select the paint brush option and copy the background color from the forum. 'CTRL Right Click' works in PSP.
  • Now with your avatar in the editing software, select the 'Color Replacer Tool' and replace the white from the avatar's background with the background color you just copied off the print screen
  • Now your avatar's background will blend in with the forum.

That's the process I used for mine and it looks a lot better when they blend together.

Thanks Ataru. Didn't think about that. I now blend in like a Ninja!
