As most of you are aware, the Balance Shaft Delete Kits have been backordered pending a re-design of the safety plate. After months of attempts to re-tool to keep the design the same in appearance, it simply was not practical to keep the design the same. The pictures below illustrate the new design. Also, there has been a materials change from steel to 6061 aluminum for the pates. Photos of the finished pieces will be added to this thread in the following week, about the time this part begins shipping again.

The remainder of the kit is the same as the old kit below;

The new design is entirely for the sake of production. The old design was just a nightmare to make without stamping them, and that would have required making 1000s of them to get the cost acceptable. The new design will also be simpler to install, but perform the exact same task as the original design.

The plates are now stamped with an alignment divit that registors on the plug hole. The old plates relied on a bent tab arrangement of sorts. The new system is pressed to get the bump and that leaves a recess on the back side. Yes, the hole is for the bolt.

The included images are representative of the final product. The plate has straight edges, with square corners. The divit is the only part that is pressed. The hole is drilled.

By way of comparrison, our design is an entirely different approach than Cosworths.

Our design uses a pressed in plug which does the "work" while the plate is a safety only in the event of plug failure. This safty feature will prevent complete oil pressure loss in the event of a plug failure. The only way the pressed in plugs ever fail is under extreme oil pressure (200+psi) or from improper installation. We include an installation tool and all the necessary hardware. Plugs are removable with a plug extractor tool should the balance shaft removal need to be reversed. Additional plugs are available for $2 to cover postage and handling should you need a replacement.

The Cosworth design uses an o-ring on a machined plate/plug arrangement, and the plate bears the load against the oil pressure. The Cosworth design is admitedly more easily reversible, and should you need to transfer it to a new block for any reason, it is transferrable.

So, while they accomplish the same thing, they are very different designs.

The new design balance shaft kits have shipped to everyone waiting for them, unless we are waiting for address corrections, and there are a small number of those. The new design kit will have a small change in the instructions due to the redesigned safety plate, which will be posted in a few days on my website with updated pictures. Anyone who has been waiting and does not receive a kit by Saturday needs to check their PMs, Emails, etc. for a message regarding an address correction.

Anyone waiting for these kits from New Edge Performance should get the kits soon as well, as kits have been sent to Tony D. as well.

The redesigned kit is available immediately, and with the new tooling and manufacturing process for the plates, the kits will never be out of stock again. As promised originally in this thread, I ill post pictures of the new kit, but it will not be for a few more days.
