What do you mean by all-season? By all-season we mean light snow traction. The AVS ES100 has 0 snow capability so it's not an all-season tire.

I'm thinking of going w/ the Nitton b/c they are rated to have pretty good snow traction. I live in NJ and sometimes the winter can be pretty harsh, but if thats the case this year, I'll just run my stock wheels/tires and not have to worry about damanging the new ones. The Nitto also have good dry and wet weather traction according to their site.

i will attest to the ContiExtremeContact's performance. they are unbelievable in the snow and stick extremely well in the wet and dry. they wear incredible too, i haven't even started to wear mine after about 12K

I will also put my vote in for the Extreme Contacts. I love them . These are incredible in the rain and the dry. These are going to be replaced by another set (If they ever wear out - 12K still look great)

For a tire to be All-Season, Compromises must be made. You can have Ultra-High-Performance Dry/Wet tires, or you can have GREAT Snow Tires, but not ULTRA High-Performance in BOTH categories.

I ordered my ContiExtremeContacts thru the 'Rack' just a day or so ago! Can't beat the price! Can't wait to get them hopefully Monday!

i beg to differ. these are awesome tires! they stick better around corners than 712's!

By definition an all-season tire is a compromise--Michael is absolutely correct. It may OK at everything, but it cannot be really great at anything.

That said, IMO, I agree that the Extreme Conti's are probably your best compromise.

Yeah I gotta say that for the price (and the price was beautiful might I add) the ContiContactExtremes are awesome bang for the buck. They're not the best tires for performance but in the wet these things stick like glue. Amazing actuallly. Only bad things are they like to pick up boulders in the huge tread patterns, they are a little noisy on concrete....and that's it. I haven't tested in snow yet but living in Chicago you can bet that they will definitely be up for one hell of a test.

15k on my ExtremeContact's. An easy 30K left in them. For an everyday driver, these may be the best available today.
I'll be testing the snow soon enough. If 215/40/17's do well in snow, I'll be stoked!

Received mine today via super-quick UPS service. Then i rushed up from work to have them mounted and balanced. All I can say is "WOW"!!!

I'm 44 and I have driven on alot of tires but these things are everything I expected and more! If they handle light snow coverage as well I think I'll have an orgasm

yeah i made this mistake too. my ES100's suck ass, i don't feel very safe when cornering compared to my last tires.

Falken Ziex 512s are good as well. Although i have heard that they arn't that great in snow. But in the dry and wet theyr'e excellent.
